Just as we thought he was on the mend (or at least I did) he's done it again, locked up in Spain apparently for theft and assault.

I think if he doesn't make the date of his defence they should strip him of the title now, time for boxing to move on and allow Cook to still get the shot at another opponent for the vacant title.

Sorry to stray away from the original thread subject but why has Nicky took the WBO shot anyway, i thought he was #1 with the WBC, Is he taking the shot with a chance of winning then going after the WBC title or did he get pushed down the rankings for some reason.

What the feck! Come on Scot, get a f**king grip. But to be fair, not too sure how much is true. The spanish police, in general, are as bent as a nine bob note, could have been a way of extorting money from Scot, you know the usual, " Oh senior, you just a puncha me, give a me £200 hundred Euros or Bigga Bubba shagga your arse in dajail" And Scott has said, feck you, here catch a hold oh this punch.

WBC are fecking about with their Featherweight belt though and Cook with his injuries probably is best getting a title shot as soon as possible.

Why would Harrison need to steal a car? Doesn't make sense being well off enough to buy one.

Thought he was training in Belfast too?

I'm guessing that it could be taking a car without consent, meaning that he knows the person who's car it was.

Also its just hearsay at the moment.

Boxing champ Harrison arrested in Spain

World featherweight boxing champion Scott Harrison has been arrested in Spain, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
The 29-year-old, from Cambuslang, near Glasgow, is understood to have been arrested in Malaga on October 6.
The arrest is reported to relate to allegations of car theft and the assault of a police officer. A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that Harrison had refused consular assistance.
Harrison pulled out of his last fight in Belfast in May this year, reportedly due to issues with depression and alcoholism, and checked into the Priory Clinic.
He had been training in Spain ahead of a planned fight against former European champion Nicky Cook in December.
In September, Harrison was charged with six offences, including assault and fraud, following incidents in South Lanarkshire during the summer.

Yes, he is catching Harrison probably at his most vulnerable..... if he is too ever beat Scott probably now is the time.

But guess who is still lurking with the WBO interim belt...... Juan Manuel Marquez.

He could have a decent reign with the more prestigious belt and not fight Marquez.

Totally! He's on a path of destruction for sure.

Might actually do him some good to be banged up for a while... what does he actually have to do before he gets locked up?....

He does seem to have got away with a fair few things, you'd think he's close to being banged up over here never mind Spain.

Nothing much to add about Harrison - he's been going off the rails for years but he seems to be in the spiral phase right now - he should be ashamed of himself for letting down so many people.

However, what amazes me about this story is that Harrison was arrested and locked up over 10 days ago - say what you like about Maloney but I believe if he was still involved Harrison would not be languishing in the cells. Barry Hughes gave a big speech when he took over as Harrison's manager about how he was the right man to look after him - frankly he should have been straight over to Spain with the best lawyer in town and had his man out within hours. That's his job - I can't believe Harrison has been held for so long apparently without charge.

For the kind of offence that Harrison appears to be facing he should be out of jail on bail at least.

Hughes appears to be living in a fantasy world. The fight with Cook still on? With Harrison living off prison food for 12 days and counting six weeks before the fight?

Amateur hour all round.

The prison food can only help bring his weight down surely and I know his arse muscles must be the best in boxing right now as I know mine would be clenched 24 hours a day if it was me in there.

In all seriousness this whole thing has saddened me greatly. I have never been a massive Harrison fan but bizarrely have started warming to him after the carry on he's had over the pasrt few years. It's a great shame and I'm not going to point the finger at him as it's clear to me that he has some serious demons raging inside him. He's not a fool and you wouldn't miss out on the paydays he has already in 2006 unless you hade a real problem. I just hope he can turn it around and find some peace.

Well according to reports he assaulted the police officer. And one of his charges he is in court over here for is assaulting dibble. He really needs a sharp shock!

BOARD HAVE HARRISON CONCERNS


The British Boxing Board of Control will seek assurances that Scott Harrison is "medically fit" to continue his career before sanctioning any title defence.

The WBO featherweight champion is currently in a Spanish prison after an alleged assault in Malaga.

The 29-year-old is already facing charges over six offences including three of assault and one of fraud following "a number of incidents" in South Lanarkshire earlier this summer.

But the BBBofC will seek to clarify the situation involving the Cambuslang fighter ahead of the December 9 defence against Nicky Cook in London.

BBBofC secretary Simon Block said: "I know little more than has appeared in the press and, as far as I'm concerned, we are not taking any immediate action.

"But, in the near future, we need clarification of what Scott Harrison has got himself into and to find out if there are any implications and if he is fit to continue boxing.

"We are aware Harrison is facing criminal charges in Scotland but we will have to wait and see what happens following this incident in Spain.

"If any licence holder is found guilty of a criminal offence, it is a matter of concern to the Board under regulation 25 - which concerns any fighter bringing boxing into disrepute.

"It would be inappropriate for me to speculate too much in respect of any charges against Harrison of which he has not been proven guilty.

"But we have two concerns; first, in respect of his conduct and, secondly, his ability to continue his boxing career.

"We have to be assured he is medically fit to continue fighting."

Harrison's father and trainer, Peter, admits the world champion's current situation has left him in despair after visiting Harrison in jail.

Peter Harrison told the Daily Record: "I don't know why but yesterday I suddenly thought to myself, 'who is Scott Harrison? Does he even know who he is any more and is he still my wee boy?'

"There are times when I think I could have suffered a nervous breakdown over all this if I hadn't been such a strong-minded person.

"Scott lacks life skills. It's hard for any father to admit his son is having difficulty coping with everyday life.

"But, as a former boxer, I know one thing. Any fighter's toughest contest is outside the ring."

If the fight goes ahead Cook will win I am sure of that now.

Very much doubt that the fight will go ahead at all... Scott will be lucky to be out of jail by then... Spanish jails are notorious for having people inside waiting to be charged etc... he could be in there for 6 months before even going to court if theyre not careful... he must be rueing getting rid of Maloney as Hughes hasnt got a flaming clue!... why on earth did he get rid of Maloney???... madness!!
