Indeed, due to more-stringent medical measures (ringside doctor and ambulance, pre and post-fight MRIs, etc) there has been a dramatic decrease in ring deaths ... but what most people don't know is that there has at the same time been a shocking *increase* in the incidence of pugilistic nasal trauma (PNT, to use the medical acronym). PNT is not only horrific from a purely medical perspective, it can also lead to a catastrophic loss of self-esteem among its formerly fair-faced victims (this is the so-called "post-nasal traumatic stress disorder" or PNTSD for short) and even to drug abuse - for instance the great Aaron "The Hawk" Pryor is on record as saying that his cocaine abuse was the end result of desperate measures he took to deal with persistent nasal stuffiness he experienced after suffering an episode of severe PNT. He tried over-the-counter and even prescription remedies, but found that the only thing that was at all effective at clearing his sinuses was regularly self-administered cocaine hydrochloride powder into his sadly traumatized Schnozz.

Something urgently needs to be done.
