How Much Does Calzaghe Make Per Title Defence

on average?
Link: http://www.fightfan.com/interviews/0806-Calzaghe.htmLook, I missed out on the Benn, Eubank and Collins fights. I missed out on the Jones, Tarver and Johnson fights. They all fought each other and made millions. I've been the least paid fighter with this amount of talent.
I hope money fights come better late than never, I'm very motivated about this because of my situation (Joe is having to pay money to his ex-wife). Look at Chris Eubank on his 'bum a month' tours, he got paid every month the amount of my biggest ever payday I had last year(against mandatory Mario Veit).
There isn't much US interest in 168...look at how many fighters we have in the top 10 of the boxrec rankings....2? And one of them has no right being there.overhand_right wrote:I hear they pay well over in Germany but more than the Lacy fight? Wasn't MEN sold out? Then again maybe Lacy got the main share, coming over from the US.
calzaghe kept saying he was only getting paid what he usually does for the lacy fight.overhand_right wrote:I hear they pay well over in Germany but more than the Lacy fight? Wasn't MEN sold out? Then again maybe Lacy got the main share, coming over from the US.
Don't know about Calzaghe's average purse, but Frank claimed he paid Hatton £705,000 for the Vilches fight.stujones wrote:Wasn't it stated that Hatton was getting £250,000 for most of his WBU title defences.
I would imagine it would be very much around that figure.... if it is indeed true.
Sorry, it was early in Hatton's WBU reign when the 250,000 was reported (I'm sure it was by Sky, but don't quote me). So I would imagine by the time he got to headline cards with a lesser undercard than the earlier Hatton defences that his purse would increase.states wrote:Don't know about Calzaghe's average purse, but Frank claimed he paid Hatton £705,000 for the Vilches fight.stujones wrote:Wasn't it stated that Hatton was getting £250,000 for most of his WBU title defences.

I think that Calzaghes purse for the Veit fight was close to that. The Germans really did pay over the odds for that. They must have been confident, although I can't think why.
Not calling you wrong Stu, not by any stretch. Apologies if it seemed that way. The Vilches figure is the one I've read in hard print though. Although, if rumours are to be believed, Frank had to pay over the odds to get Ricky to appear on the card.stujones wrote:Sorry, it was early in Hatton's WBU reign when the 250,000 was reported (I'm sure it was by Sky, but don't quote me). if u remember the arena was half empty for that fight between corrales and castillo.states wrote:Not calling you wrong Stu, not by any stretch. Apologies if it seemed that way. One thing that isn't in dispute is that Hatton's earnings have been ridiculous. That purse for the Vilches fight is more than either Castillo or Corrales made for the rematch of one of the best fights I've ever seen, give or take.
The fighters mean more than the ground. 8)Richard Nwoba wrote:haha! Joe should be happy over what he is making... He is a home boy.. when will he move to State? Lets not forget that Rashid Matumla defend his WBU title at Italy for $10.000. hahaha...We Africans are very far! Sorry.
Amazingly the PPV didn't do very impressive numbers either. Very strange. A lot of US fights don't get big crowds, and there are very few fighters who could draw 20,000 to a fight like Hatton could. I wonder how many Oscar drew to his fights?hitman_hatton1 wrote:if u remember the arena was half empty for that fight between corrales and castillo.states wrote:Not calling you wrong Stu, not by any stretch. hatton puts bums on seats and therefore the promoter can pay him big purses against less than stellar opposition.
For WBU fights Hatton was on 500k-£1m I thinkstujones wrote:Wasn't it stated that Hatton was getting £250,000 for most of his WBU title defences.
