MTG as he's better known on this forum (Martin Gillick) will touch down in Auckland in a few hours time.

He WILL fight December 9th, and his pro career will be underway.

To everyone who has questioned his desire to fight prepare to watch MTG move up the pro ranks.

Nice to see his pro career get up and running. Hope he remembers to visit these forums when he hits the big time.

Should have put his name down for the next space program as there is more chance of him fighting a martian than a mouri............

What weight does he fight at?.

He was asking about mike allen not so long back, so i presume SMW

I might be behind on this subject but how come he is having to travel to New Zealand to get a bout? I know he was struggling in Britain but wasn't he going to hook up with Dave Coldwell or something?

think he's gone there for work commitments (other than boxing), but i dont know

MTG is here to fight first work second. His training begins Monday New Zealand time for his debut bout on the weekend of the 9th and 10th of December. At Super-Middleweight.

Martins been given an opportunity, and he's made a big sacrifice to take that opportunity. I realise there has been alot of talk and no walk in the UK, Martins in NZ and people should give him a chance here, and see what he can do.

The New Zealand scene has been dreadful over recent years, can he viably get good experience and quality fights over there? Maybe a couple of trips over to OZ for fights or sparring could be the order of the day.

There will be opportunities to fight in Australia.

People say you cant go anywhere boxing in New Zealand as a pro, but we have

All fighting out of New Zealand

Guys like David Tua, Kali Meehan, and others have started their career in NZ.

It's no boxing mecca, granted but its not like you cannont go anywhere by starting here. Theres enough fights to be made, and regional titles to be won to push a decent fighter up the rankings.

i was actually only 12 stone 10 ish in that photo
but yeah i do look big in that.i wanted to campaign at sup middle and if i sort my sh*t out i hope to be but nothings certain.ive had a break in new zealand and recharged my batteries but im a bit away from 12 stone anyway im more like 13 stone 5 to be exact.
ive taken a lot of critisism and maybe some of it was due but ive had problems and hopefuly ill have made a decision with the correct ppl by new year as ive cracked my ribs in a stupid training accident(tottaly my stupid fault).
the past month in new zealand has relit my desire to be around boxing whether in a boxer or coaching kids role ive yet to figure out but with the help of my current/former(dnt know were the contract stands) manager i plan on sitting down and letting him decide with me if we are going to hit it in the upcoming year.
all i ask from ppl is keep there critisism on hold for now plz till i get my sh*it sorted then ill gladly take on board all opinions.

Jake was a great character but a nasty piece of work at the same time!

Hi MTG when u fighting then?

first of all emma i need to sort it out with dave and decide where we stand but at the moment im down with 2 cracked ribs!
ill be sticking to my diet in the mean time tho so if and when i sort my sh*t out ill be ready to shake the last few training pounds off but it all lies with what we can decide to do(me n dave).
for now i cant say too much till i sit down with dave and see whats happening.

But i thought you were boxing in NZ now?
