Does Hatton want Mayweather? Are we all just donkey's?

Does Hatton want Mayweather, that is the question. Floyd is quoted in an article on Seconds Out stating that each time they try to make the Hatton fight his team come out with a different excuse to get out of the fight, first they said he needed more tune-ups, next he wanted to fight for the title at 147lbs, and now he wants US 13 million.
I believe Mayweather wants this fight and that it could be made any time Hatton's team want it. I am seriously frustrated with Hatton. I give Hatton a lot of credit for beating Tyszu then fighting for two other titles back to back. But lets not forget why he fought for those two titles after beating Tyszu, Maussa (however gangly & tough he may have been) was considered an easy touch, and Collazo to. Collazo was not meant to give Hatton the kind of trouble he did. Now he's fighting Urango-tan, who's next you wonder? He and his camp will tell us it could be Mayweather, Cotto, or Castillo. I doubt it, if we get Corrales we should be grateful!
Hatton does not want Mayweather, or Cotto. In my opinion he should fight them back to back, then Castillo next. He's is extreme'ly popular on both sides of the pond, so there's no excuse there. He's made a fortune out of tune up fights, and he's had his big pay day's from Tyszu + his HBO deal. Its time to give the fans what they deserve. No more fcuking about, no more bullshit, fight the big fights and stop pussying around.
Am i being over critical? Whats your opinion! Will Hatton ever get around to fighting Mayweather or Cotto or will his camp continue to forever dangle the carrot?
Regards
Ali

the $13 million demand is really hard to believe, but if it IS true than it is pure madness...there is only 1 fighter in boxing today who can expect to get that kind of money (besides oscar delahoya) and that would be mayweather
fighting oscar!!
even if the $13 mill is not true, IMO ricky is not really that keen on fighting PBF (unless he looks really beatable vs baldomir)...i expect castillo in spring 2007 and consider that a 50-50 fight!!
if hatton wins i would expect him to face cotto next (if miguel is still unbeaten by then)...if ricky beats both castillo & cotto convincingly he could realistically expect to get $7-8 million to face PBF (remember ricky is not THAT well known in USA...more american fans saw his tough time with collazo than his win over tszyu)...maximum PBF could get vs ricky is $10-12 million...or $15-20 million if he beats oscar delahoya FIRST!!
what is hatton's biggest payday so far? my guess would be about $2-3 million for the kostya fight...if so, even $7 million vs PBF would a big step up, since he wont get anywhere near that vs castillo or cotto!!

I wonder how much Hatton-Mayweather would make. May do 400k-500k buys stateside and here which would be $25m if PPVs were at $50 a pop. Now I presume the TV companies want a nice slice of that $25m. The gate would probably be another $1m on top. Obviously people other than the fighters need paying out of that money so its not just $26m they can split 50-50 is it? So Hattons probabably asking for around 60%+ of the purse if he asked for $13m and we know PBF would never accept that.

Isn't he on £3m a fight? (about $5.5m?) I forget the exact figure. He gets pretty much 90% of what any fight hes involved in makes though. Thats the problem his opponent is on like 10% of the purse so Hatton makes plenty fighting sub-par opponents who'll take the small money.

Exactly, and he's been doing it for long enough. Its now time to give back to the fans!

Hatton has milked these nothing fights for all they are worth for too long. Time to get more active and fight the big names and stop the talking. The momentum gained beating Tszyu is being lost with each nothing fight he takes subsequently. Couple that with long periods of inactivity and Hatton in my opinion is in danger of letting his prime go to waste.

Yeh it's time they got it on, fair enough if they were building the fight up over time but I just see people losing interest in it. Hopefully his fight with Castillo comes off at 140 and I think Castillo will be a monster at that weight.

This "building up the fight" shite gets on my nerves, how much bigger can it possibly get? I'm jumping on the bandwagon of frustrated Ricky Hatton fans. Enough of low grade opposition and let's get the big fights on. More Boxing and less cashing in required, plus Hatton is getting so fat in between his bouts then he has little longevity at LW.

to be fair to Hatton, I thought that Mayweather has been looking for a fight with Oscar, but perhaps that is now not looking likely, so Mayweather is looking back to Hatton.
This fight has to happen if and when Hatton gets past Castillo, I feel that Hatton could end up getting beat before he even gets to mayweather otherwise.

Suppedly Mayweather contacted Hatton for a fight instead of Baldomir. He wanted Mosley/DLH/Hatton all ahead of Baldomir - well thats what he said. The truth of the matter is we don't know. Team Hatton should have jumped on it - Hatton will get beat sooner or later, bet it be Mayweather with a good showing than Witter/Castillo or a shock against 1 of the 'easy' fights, ala Collazo. And you never know he might actually win, then his stock will go through the roof - look at a Mayweather rematch or fights with Mosley/DLH
Then again a figt against Mayweather may make him £6m, he could make that fighting Urango and then Rabah - so why risk the end of the gravy train?

If I can find it, I think it was on fightfan.com, Ricky stated he did not know the exact amount, but he said it was probably around there....anything AROUND there is still too much.
FF: Floyd Mayweather has said several times in the press in recent months that you demanded 13 Million dollars to fight him. Was such a fight ever discussed and can you comment on the validity of his statement?
RH: I don’t remember saying that exactly, but it was probably something in that region. I think it’s a mega fight worth a lot of money, but that end of it is really up to my father and my team to negotiate. I think it’s a fight people really want to see because people know Floyd moved up to welterweight without fighting the Lt welterweight champion. I think a fight between he and I could be one of the biggest fights to be made in boxing.

Mo' money mo' problems. Not knocking the kiddy, it's not my brain being knocked about after all, but feck me I'd fight Floyd for a tenth of that.
Just have to cut my leg off to make 140 is all...

I guess that if ricky figures he can get a (reputed) 3.5 million POUNDS to fight Collazo, then he can get around 6 mill to fight Mayweather.
It's doubtful however the fight is worth enough to pay both men that sum of money. Mayweather isn't really a huge PPV seller, doesn't have a massive crowd to bring, and Hatton ain't got that sort of international following to carry it alone.
It would take some hype job from the networks to make the fight pay out that sort of money to the fighters.

The thing is, he asked for double what you said they'd each struggle to make. However, I think a lot could change for both in their next two fights. Urango is game, eventhough he shouldn't be champion, and Baldomir isn't going anywhere. Offense will be on display in both, and both have the correct opponent to look fantastic against.
If Hatton follows with Castillo, and Mayweather with Oscar or Mosley, those are just HUGE fights in general, and I would hope HBO could somehow get them on the same schedule. More likely if Ricky were to have fought in early December.
If those guys win those two, Hatton's in an exciting manner, and Floyd using his smarts, they could easily get 6 for their next fight, especially if Floyd gets Oscar.

No, check the article, the figure was 13 million DOLLARS, not pounds. Hatton made £3.5 M (reputedly) for Collazo, which is around 6-7 million US. So it is double that figure roughly that he would be after.
My point is that you need a pretty massive PPV sell to warrant that kind of payday. A grand total in the kitty of around 50 mill to keep everyone happy I'd say. No way is Floyd going to take 'slaves wages' and let Hatton get more than him, in fact, he'll insist on being paid more.
Even if both look great in their next fights, I still think it's a very hard sell, Floyd only did well on the Gatti PPV because of Gatti.

Ha, my fault, I'm a stupid American, sorry.
Gatti was also Floyd's first headlined PPV, so it was unknown territory how he would sell. Plus, with his string of lackluster opponents and missed opportunities, it wasn't going to be that strong for him anyway.
However, he took a major step with Judah, which got about 370,000 buys. Not bad for a fight the media crucified as useless and pointless. I'm very interested in seeing where the Baldomir fight runs to, seeing as they're pushing Floyd as an Oscar type, gentleman inside and outside the ring, eventhough both have shady pasts. If it works, it could be the biggest conjob in boxing history.

Thats a myth, didn't PBF-Judah outsell PBF-Gatti in PPVs? That fight did around 350k PPVs, which considering Judah was coming off a loss is allot. People want to see a P4P no1 fight, especially if its a big fight.
Who are the biggest names in boxing under 30 in terms of draw? PBF, Pacman, Taylor, Hatton, Amir Khan.

Urango is Hatton's 2nd fight on HBO right? Castillo might be the 3rd? Well I see Castillo beating Hatton so there goes his super fight with Mayweather.
Hatton is only 28 and even now he looks to be aging. If Hatton wants to beat Mayweather then get him whilst still in prime.
Also Collazo is fighting next week against some Eastern European on the undercard of Lyakhovich-Briggs so that should be interesting.

Before they met last Saturday night, neither Arturo Gatti nor Floyd Mayweather had ever headlined a pay-per-view event. Nevertheless, the bout did an impressive 340,000 buys, generating $15.3 million in PPV revenue. With those numbers, Gatti and Mayweather join Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad as non-heavyweights who have the star power to carry a pay-per-view event. For comparison, each fight in the memorable Marco Antonio Barrera-Erik Morales trilogy produced 300,000-330,000 buys and $13-15 million. Other PPV facts:
* Biggest non-heavyweight PPV event: Trinidad-De La Hoya in 1999 produced 1.4 million buys and $71 million.
* Most PPV buys: 1.99 million for Evander Holyfield-Mike Tyson II in 1997 (producing $99 million).
* Highest PPV revenue: $103 million for Lennox Lewis-Tyson in 2002 (on 1.8 million buys).
Yep, you're right Floyd v Judah did 350,000, 10,000 more than Gatti fight. Surprising, but true. perhaps I've been talking shite all along.

Hatton does look old, I watched Lacy/Calzaghe last night (apparently I hate myself) and did some punch counting, and of course, Hatton was there, and he looked so old, and this was only 7 months ago. Between his rapid weightloss and weight gain and his between fight lifestyle, no way does he have the body a 28 year old should.
Side note, I've heard Collazo is fighting Margarito victim Hercules Kyvelos.

How many PPVs did Tyszu-Hatton do
No way can PBF-Hatton do $50m though, maybe it'll generate 700PPVs and $30m PPV revenue if they're lucky. Remember PBF got around $6m and Judah about $1 from the PPV that sold 350k - unless Mayweather got more after the event.
After this 3fight deal with Hobson et al no one is going to pay Hatton £3.5m to fight relative nobodies

I think Hatton will struggle like hell against Urango, its about styles, Urango is a bit slower but he's younger in terms of ring wear...don't be fooled by the rabah stinker....

sorry, PBF-judah DID outsell PBF-gatti by 10,000 buys!! surprised everyone & it will be interesting to see what numbers PBF can do with baldomir (where floyd will be the ONLY draw, since fight will likely be on free TV in argentina)...

I thought Urango was his 3rd on HBO - Maussa, Collazo, Urango - and Castillo to be the big PPV
If Ricky was looking after himself and fighting more often he wouldnt be ageing so much

I find this weird, Hatton shouldn't be barely having any wear and tear yet. He's only had about two wars!
Castillo hasn't done shit for a while so it depends how well he does in his next fight, otherwise not a good fight to take.
Credit to Floyd for fighting Baldomir though.
If Gatti had won, then Hatton would of more likely of fought Gatti since Floyd gave Gatti a one sided beating.
