both had seen better days, but after watching film of the first fight between aaron pryor and alexis arguello, i thought i had just witnessed one of the greatest fights ever. perhaps it gets lost amidst all of the other great middle and welter fights of the 80s, but if theres anybody whos seen this fight, they know what im talking about.

Despite "Panama" Lewis's obvious pedigree as a scumbag, I've never paid much attention to the water bottle thing. No wrong doing on Pryor's part has ever been proven, and I think people exaggerate Pryor's condition in the 13th round. People love to say "Pryor was dead in that round, he had nothing left, and then he just came out wailing in the 14th"
I've seen that fight at least a dozen times and I've never gotten such a clear impression as that one. Besides, there was no Panama Lewis in the second fight, there was Manny Steward, and you still had the same result.
At any rate, it's one of the best fights I've ever seen.
