I know it was wasn't rocket science, but I did say on a thread about the Alex Arthur's world title situation was not to discount the IBF's relationship with Manuel Medina.... even though he was down quite low on their rankings following his title defeat vs Baloyi.
Well, he is now fighting an IBF title eliminator vs Kevin Kelley in a fight that should have happend ten years ago. Its on the Klitchsko vs Brock undercard.
It could be a good one, despite the loss to Pacquiao - Kelley has displayed some good form of late. His win over Carlos Hernandez looks good on paper, but actually better when you watch it. Hernandez was there to win and lets not forget only a few months back many people thought Hernandez beat Pacquiao. Kelley showed a durability that he didn't show vs Pacquiao and attributed this to a new diet.... It might be plausible cause he didn't look too shabby vs Hernandez. Kelley outboxed Hernandez, Kelley showed he's still got decent power vs Hernandez and lasted the course well.
I did think the manner of the Medina loss vs Baloyi meant that he shouldn't have been eliminated from the title picture altogether. He did seem set for victory. So all in all, I can think of worst eliminators and a fight that is surprisingly tough to call - two years ago, I would have been backing Medina comfortably, ten years ago Kelley.
Looks like Arthur is a mile away getting a title shot.
