Cube's Boxing Photo Archive (19,000 photos!) - Free download

I'd like to start out by saying I hope this doesn't violate any forum rules.
I've been collecting photos and maintaining a downloadable archive for Titlebout for over 5 years. Now I want to release my FULL ARCHIVE that has taken me years to assemble. This is all the headshots AND everything else. It includes over 19,000 photos and has a uniform naming convention throughout. I will be updating much like the TBCB archive. The archive is packaged in a multi-volume RAR set. When you have all the files, put them in the same folder and open part 1 (This assumes WinRAR is installed on your system). The files total just under 1GB. They are stored on Rapid Share. RS makes you jump through some hoops, including limiting you to 100MB per 2 hours, but let me assure you it's worth it. Here are the links. Just about every old timer you ever heard of has a photo or 20 in here.

This is a great resource for anyone with a boxing website.

Very generous, thanks a lot!
I'm surprised there aren't more boxing photos on the internet of the 70's & 80's fighters.
I've only found 1 of Mike McCallum in B&W but that's it and I need some for doing DVD covers etc.

The lion's share of the photos come from scanning Ring magazines and Ebay.

Most of the photos are of retired fighters, many whose photographers and subjects are dead. As for the recent photos, long as you're not charging for membership I wouldn't worry. Most web copyright issues involve the copyright owner asking the website to take a photo down first anyway. Has there ever been a lawsuit of this type? It seems like first they would complain to the website, then the web hoster, who would likely just take the photo down. This supposition is based on my own personal experience with torrents involving copyrighted material.

Deca, don't be a turd. Maybe there's some good shit in there.. I'm just too lazy to download one.. and doesn't rapidshare only allow so many transfers per day for free? dunno..

Here's the first update of the photo archive. If you unrar to the same folder as the main archive, only photos being updated or replaced will overwrite. This makes 20,000 photos altogether in the archive.
Enjoy!

Cube, gotta man up on your Internet connection and provide a torrent or something. Rapidshare sucks! hehe

Well it's free, and it's on 24/7 unlike my computer. The updates are only one file anyway. It's only a drag when they make you wait between files.

Hey, calm yourself. It was just a suggestion.
Apparently there are various ways to beat the RapidShare limitations.. just do some Google searching. I haven't tested any of the methods yet, but it sounds like there are ways..

Here's another update. 800 more photos bringing the grand total to 21,125 photos. As always extract to where you have the big archive and some photos will overwrite.

THANK YOU, Cubedrum.
I apologize for the whiners here.
They are probably all on welfare.
Talk about spoiled brats.

I agree with granberry......so something is amiss in the universe....
granberry ....must I speak of photos here? If so....I will mention that I am color blind and sometimes can not appreciate all the subtle nuances of the finest examples of photography.

I always thought the best photography was in black and white.
The light and shade is what counts.

that's a great picture KO, Al Hostak.
I've see it before...nice effect with the light lower than the subjects by the look of it. I've now just copied to my collection.
cheers

oh I forgot to add there seems to be a "hint" of something gone 'a foul' in the Hostak v Steele fight mentioned over at the CBZ...
btw, almost all of my boxing pics are BW, they are the best!
