What do people think?
I liked the look of him, great head movement; in the early rounds he looked like a young Toney (well almost), lost his composure a bit and brawled a bit too much after the halfway mark but overall I was quite impressed.
I'd like to see him plant his feet more and relax a bit more in the future, hopefully that'll come with experience.

Followed him since the off and hope he goes to British title level. Has always belied his years. Had some good sparring in the States too.

He's a strange one - he really enjoys the rough stuff and told me last night when he got elbowed he couldn't keep the smile off his face.

Good skills. He's moving down to lightweight, so he says.

With Fewkes I feel theres a lot more to come

Very good skills, the comparison with James Toney is a good one.... doubts over his power but that could improve with him moving down. Could have the same problems as Ian Napa when he steps up (power).

My only two criticisms were his power and sometimes his focus. As Ian said about the smiling when he got elbowed, he did look like he was having fun in there but sometimes I would just wanted him to show more focus (i.e. those playful taps to the top of his opponents head etc).

An interesting addition and he could go far, especially if his power comes.

he looks a good fighter but from watching him last night he seems quite unsportsman like. refused to touch haywards gloves when offered at the end of the first two rounds and at one point during the second half of the fight he offered his glove to hayward as a trick, as he then pulled his hand back and hit him flush. anyone else notice that? he is exciting though and the type you would want to watch again.

That's fair comment to a certain extent, Rob. In earlier fights I've seen the journeymen try to pull their usual variety of tricks and Fewkes gives them back worse.

I really enjoyed Fewkes' performance last night - I can see why Ian has been high on him for so long!

Nice footwork, head movement, composure and work rate - a very mature performance that was at odds with his youth. All in all not bad for a ginger!

On the subject of touching gloves - its not a tickling contest in their and sometimes fighters can be overly 'friendly'. Touching gloves at the start and before the last round is plenty in my eyes.. He was respectful after the contest so I dont think we should worry about his temperament.

I look forward to seeing more of this carrot-topped firecracker!

Feewkes unsporting you got to be kidding, one of the nicest kids in the game

First time I'd seen Fewkes, and I was pretty impressed. I certainly look forward to seeing him again.

On a side note, congrats to last nights opponent Scott Haywood on some truly shitty tattoos.

He's a lovely lad, I know him well. But he can be a little sod inside the ropes. Ask him, he'll tell you I'm right! I wouldn't go as far as to say unsporting - but he takes no rubbish and that's good as far as I'm concerned.

Thought he looked good, certainly British title level. The lack of power may be a problem when he moves up, but he throws alot of punches so that can counter power problems sometimes.

hadn't seen him until Friday but liked what i saw. well skilled and tough. glad to hear he wants to go to Lightweight as he looked a little small for 10st, although his opponent was nearly 6ft tall.
