I hope this isn't true.

LONDON (Reuters) - Troubled former world heavyweight boxing champion Frank Bruno has admitted his drug problems have returned after saying he had stopped using cocaine.

In Saturday's Sun, the 44-year-old Briton who won the World Boxing Council (WBC) title against Oliver McCall in 1995, said: "I got high on the stuff and I'm deeply ashamed. This was a one-off though.

"I have promised my daughters I will never touch the filthy stuff again - and it's a promise I intend to keep."

The newspaper article quotes an unidentified prostitute as saying Bruno snorted "14 lines of cocaine" in her company last Sunday.

Bruno, who retired on medical advice after losing to Mike Tyson in 1996, has suffered well-publicised mental problems in recent years and was treated at a psychiatric hospital in 2003.

Bruno admitted in his autobiography that he began using cocaine in 2000, blaming the drug for his mental problems.

Yeah it's on the front of one of the tabloids, Bruno cocaine hell or something.

Hope Bruno can kick the coke, He was one of the reasons i got interested in boxing

I'd wait till more comes out about this till I fully believe it.

It's sad how some fighters cannot exist after boxing.

I never thought this sort of thing would have happened to Bruno, as he is well sorted financially & seemed to have many outside interests.

To be honest Bruno is the type of fighter/person that you could see having problems after retirement imo... he absolutely lived for boxing, 24 hours a day... so when that is gone its hardly surprising really that its hard for him to come to terms with... its a shame he hasnt got involved with training fighters or something like that as I think much of his problems come from having too much time on his hands and not having any goals anymore... he has probably succumbed to taking drugs again due to depression... though 14 lines sounds very far fetched!....

Bruno's problems started long before he boxed, boxing gave him structure, discipline and routine.

People with bipolar disorder tend to suffer from substance abuse weaknesses.

I do bugle, cannot condemn him for that, but in his case, it's probably something he cannot control so easily, so let's hope he's able to keep it all under manners, easier said than done even for the best of us.

Never a truer word spoken , I know when I stopped boxing I went straight into training boxers, Gave it away a couple of years ago, Now my buisness pretty much runs itself only have to be there a couple of hours a day, time on my hands ,money in my pocket, I've become a full on pisshead.
Spend most afternoons in the pub.The problem is when you were like me ,and a lot of others I started boxing at 9-10 jnr -- snr --pro-- Trainer. My kids came to the gym to spend time with there dad, When others were going out with there mates and going for a beer after work I was in the gym , when you stop doing it You actually find that you have the time and you start doing things others have done for years. Most boxers are too busy keeping in shape to party and miss out , same when you start trainng lads you have to be a trainer you can't be that and in the pub.I found I like the socializing inthe pub, Bruno probably found he likes the coke

Only one answer get a hobby, i'm now looking for another gym, Bruno should get back into it in some form or another
