For 2 rounds :TU: Masterclass from Floyd, I didn't have Baldomir winning 1 round, maybe 1 or 2 close rounds though.

I feel sorry for Bolton fans, it must be hard seeing Mayweather beat up Sam Allardyce like that.

Any Brits pissed off at the Briggs/Lyakhovich spoiler at the end?

Well it was a very dull fight, but the end was just crazy.

I see the attempt to prop up Baldo didn't last for long.

It was fairly obvious what was going to happen, I can't beilieve the amount of idiots who rated Baldomir's chances.

Another masterclass against a limited opponent, All hail Mayweather's sublime skillset.

Wake me up when he fights somebody worth a damn (that doesn't include DLH).

but Margarito is worth your time chuck? If Floyd fights Margarito and beats him as convincingly as he did Baldomir you will say Oh but Floyd should have faught so and so because Margarito is shit. just admit that he can do nothing to earn your respect.

Thank you Mr Sockdollanger, completely agree.

Even though I "bigged upped" Baldomir in the build up, I still agreed with Mighty Warriors prediction of a 12-0 win for Mayweather in terms of rounds.

However, I think the same or a similar scorecard would be witnessed if Mayweather fought any other Welter with the exception of a Judah rematch, who is the closest to Mayweather in terms of speed and offensive skills. Maybe Mosley might do something aswell at the weight, he has true power and still decent (if much slower than what they were) handspeed.

If Judah had a chin I would favour him to beat all the other Welterweight contenders... and he would have beaten Baldomir. I don't think it was a lack of focus from Judah vs Baldomir, but the fact he got tagged and never recovered that cost him the title and to credit Baldo, he never allowed him to recover.

Things will surely get a bit more interesting if he steps up to light middle where he has the likes of Wright (maybe), Tito (maybe) and DLH.

Sock

If he beat Margarito as convincingly as he did Baldi I'd be forced to respect him, fact is he wants no part of that fight and has no intention whatsoever of meeting him. Baldi's no Margarito and all the feckwits who built up last nights fight into something it never was are clueless to that fact.

Margarito, Williams, Cotto, Hatton, Collazo, Spinks, Quintana, Harris, Witter, (the list goes on and on) - were all better fighters than Baldomir.

In almost 3 years at the weight, how in the f*ck can this joker be talking about retiring when he hasn't f*cking fought any of the best??

Judah was a good start but he's hardly the force to be reckoned with that he once seemed capable of being.

I was a huge fan of FLoyd up to Lightweight, from 140 up he's a dissapointment, as are most of the other 140lbers who despite being in the most loaded division in boxing couldn't manage to fight each other.

Let him fight DLH and ride off into the sunset so we can close this case and start afresh.

Good classy performance from Floyd, Baldomir came to fight and got a good payday but Mayweather is just a step above everyone else.

Jay Nady needs to have a stern word by the commission IMO for his consistently blatant biased refereeing. Admonishing Baldomir constantly for minor or none existant infringements, did the same in Eastman-Joppy and Maskaev-Rahman II.

Surprised Ian Darke claimed Mayweather could only "hold his own" with Hagler, Hearns, Leonard etc i would give him an even money chance with all three.

That only shows what a pudendum Darke is, Hagler was a BIG Middle weight that Mayweather could hit with a bat and Marvin would just smile, but with a thousand times more skill technique and ring smarts than Baldomir.

I think Darke only mentioned Hearns & Leonard.

What was that about Nady, telling Floyd pre fight: "you're a great champion, and I'm honored to be refereeing you." Did he ask for his autograph while he has there?

Was a bit surprising to hear Mayweather get into a slanging match with Larry Merchant in the post fight interview. Floyd i think was perhaps justified, after putting on a clinic over the divisions supposed best fighter all that Merchant could do was point to the fact that a few morons were booing and leaving. If the Las Vegas crowd cannot appreciate a master at work it's their own faults. Most only go to the big fights for the glamour anyway and don't even turn up until the main event.

Well, at least he didn't offer to fellate Floyd....

Nady is pathetic, he is so biased to the American fighters it is untrue, he needs to be taken off the main stage if he keeps embarrassing himself. During Maskaev-Rahman II he was constantly berating Maskaev for none existant holding "Your holding Oleg, stop it" to which Larry Merchant screamed "You stop it Jay!"

You do realise Baldomir beat judah who in turn beat 2 of those, who in turn beat a lineage that includes Mayorga, Forrest, Mosley, Delahoya

I wouldnt be so sure.

Its all well being wise after the event but Baldomir was fighting the best crafts-man in boxing. Floyd Mayweather is a master of ringmanship... hitting and not getting hit.

Mayweather possesses the ability to make everybody youve mentioned above, look as ordinary and inept as Baldomir was made to look.

Its interesting to note that coming into last night's fight, Baldomir was the linear Welterweight champion of the World having beaten Judah, who had beaten Spinks who had beaten Mayorga, who had beaten Forrest, who had beaten Mosely...etc, etc.

Coming into last night's fight, Baldomir had more creditionals and legitimacy to fight Mayweather, than any other fighter youve mentioned.

Playing 6 degrees of seperation is always a weak argument when it comes to judging the ability of a fighter, you should know better than that.

I'm not arguing about the technical legitimacy of Baldomir as an opponent in terms of championship lineage.

In my opinion, based on actually watching the fighters mentioned fight, every one of them would put forth a better argument than Baldomir could muster. That's not to say I don't think Mayweather couldn't beat them, my problem lies in the fact that they were the fights we should have seen Mayweather in but won't because he's chosen to travel the path of least resistance, a trait that's a large part of the reason why this sport is in a state of decay.

well said, weight hopping prior to cleaning up a division or fighting the best there, is the scourge of modern day boxing and one of the reasons it is in decline. Baldomir while brave and big is no technician, in fact someone like Colazzo would beat him handily, Floyd can talk about his legacy but as said from Lightweight and above he doesnt have one. Judah is a decent win but a finished Gatti and a journeyman come good does NOT put you in the echelons of the likes of Duran, Leonard Hearns or Hagler.

Floyd has the talent Im just not sure he has the will to back up his mouth.

totally agree.

I agree with J and Charlie, Baldomir was the champ but we all knew how this fight was going to turn out and I never considered him one of the top fighters at welter. Not enough power, workrate or skills. Yes he's strong, but any stronger than Margarito? Don't get me wrong I think Floyd would beat everyone at welter but it would be nice to see him tested by the best. Judah was a good win but Baldomir, Mitchell, Gatti, Bruseles and Corley isn't good enough for the most skilled fighter on the planet.

What are you on about??

Mayweather fought the universally recognised champion at Welter - there's nothing technical about the FACT that Baldomir was the division's number 1, only that he fought and earned his way to that position.

Previous to that Mayweather attempted to make a fight with the main-man at Light-welter (Ricky Hatton), only for Hatton to turn the fight down on more than one occassion.

Prior to that Mayweather beat the main-man (Castillo) at Lightweight on two occassions.

That doesnt appear to be the workings of man who isnt willing 'to back up his mouth', does it?
Lenny Albert wrote:...I never considered him one of the top fighters at welter. Not enough power, workrate or skills. Yes he's strong, but any stronger than Margarito?
I havent got a clue, but what I do know is that Baldomir has recently mixed it and beaten, a higher calibre of fighter (who are also more widely regarded - in terms of Gatti and Judah) than Margarito has.

No need to get out your pram about it mate.
you may have baldomir as the top man in the division Liam but I dont.

If you dont know what I am on about I suggest that you re-read the post, take a chill pill and read what other people seem to be able to grasp judging by their responses.

I also state that since his time at Lightweight when he fought Castillo was the last time he fought the top man of the division and I suppose what Floyd says is the truth is it?

If you think that the likes of Corley Gatti Bruseels and Baldomir are the challenges that make a great Legacy in the region of the Durans et al of this world, then I suggest you take up watching darts.

Baldomir was The Champ - The Man - a lineage that goes threw Judah, Spinks, Mayorga, Forrest, Mosley, DLH. PBF fighting Baldomir is the equivilent of Louis fighting Braddock or Dempsey fighting Willard.

PBFS last five are probably as good as Tyszus best wins. Its not his fault if Hatton/DLH/Mosley/Cotto won't sign

I see your point Phenom but did ANYONE seriously think he was going to give Floyd any problems at all? Apart form James that is
It always was a poor match up both stylicistically and in terms of it ever being a contest. Margherito would have given him a better fight no / have been more fo a challenge?? Maybe you dont agree with that but certainly thats my thinking.

as for floyds last five being as good as Tsyu's best wins.
another darts fan then
