Got to say that's very impressive business on the gate for two lighter weight fighters who aren't even contesting a world title. Should be a good fight too.

Brian Peters has done an awesome job promoting this fight and generally bringing boxing back to Dublin.

I am sure any of our Irish posters will confirm how barren the landscape was only a handful of years ago...Long may this revival continue on the Emerald Isle; its good for the game and leads to nice paydays for all concerned. :)

7,000 on the gate... I'm really impressed by that. But then they do like to get behind their own, the paddies. There aren't many fighters over here who'd sell that many tickets.

I got to say that the 2 fighters havent sold this one out.... All 7000 are paying to see one fighter and thats Bernard Dunne, without discrediting Pickering he is merely making up the numbers, The support for Dunne has been something of a phenomena and the bandwagon is most definately in 5th gear.... I would just like to know what SKY SPORTS think about a venue selling out that many tickets and being covered by a TV company that historically hasnt had big budgets to work with in covering top sports action when their friday night fight usualy has a very poor gate (just watch and compare the Hunter fight the night before to catch my drift). Its a bit of a coup for RTE and the fact that it managed to sell out when people were aware that it was on free to air tells you something about the public support for Dunne and im delighted that this fight will introduce many non boxing fans to the sport. I cant wait for the atmosphere its gonna be KICKINNNNNN

I think the fact that Dunne is fighting an equal makes the fight appealing. So Pickering isn't just making up the numbers. I mean, this is a fight that no one knows whose going to win. Whick makes it compelling.

Was looking at the odds, best i can see for Pickering is 7/4 at paddypower.
Dunne is 2/5, think they might have Dunne as a bit to strong a favourite there.

Might have a few quid on Pickering.

Dont be quick to call people dumb when you are completely wrong, dunne has never fought at the point before he has fought at the national stadium which only holds around 2000. Also he never said anywhere that dunne has sold out the point in the past.

anyway back to the boxing, Dunne is a little overrated and Pickering a little underrated, so we should have a really good fight here.

Biggest fight for Dunne so far, will he get caught up in the crowd and emotion and burn up to much energy early?
Pickering has the better experience of big fights, and will be focused coming in, Pickering knows his career at this level is on the line, so i expect him to be firing on all cylinders early.
