He was totally demoralised by that point, once he realised that Molitor could not only outbox him but hurt him too.

Hunter was doing well early, but he was fighting a style which essentially didn't suit him. No matter what he did, I think Molitor was just all around too good the difference in punch technique was huge, pinpoint shots right on the chin from around the guard, great stuff.

Molitor looked the goods in there, made Hunter look very ordinary once he warmed up.

i wondered how hunter would handle molitor's power. molitor not a big puncher on paper, but we've seen hunter troubled before by speed.

i always thought it was too tough an ask for hunter.

Agree James, He looked good if not unbeatable.

ive never considered hunter world class anyway, i thought molitar would win in 4. hunter is a good battler, but he has always been a fighter not a boxer, and his punch resistance is questionable.

hunter has peaked at the level he is at, he should still be proud, he is a very sporting individual.

He'll probably look to bounce back against the Dunne/Pickering winner tomorrow.

I only seen last 2 rounds but Steve put on a great performance but does anyone think he'll beat Vasuqez or Caballero? I'd give him a good chance of beating De Leon as he looks abit limited but the way he totally dominated Seeger a few weeks ago I'm not sure.

I said it on an earlier thread a couple of weeks back that Hunter was 1 fight away from being FOUND OUT, he was on the right side of a questionable decision against Pickering to win the European title in the first place and has only fought bums in his 3 defences, he has gone to great lenght to avoid Dunne & Pickering and from what we have seen tonight its obvious why. Damn its a pity that wasnt Dunne in there coz im certain he would have done a similar job.

Molitor looked impressive, picked his shots very well and looked to have decent power, nice fight for somebody that has been inactive for a year.

It looks obvious that Hunter will now challenge the Dunne Pickering winner (DUNNE by KO IMO) but will come up well short again.

Molitor looked excellent, much better than I expected him to. Very tidy boxer, solid puncher, moves really nicely. Super bantam was lacking in an excellent well rounded boxer.

Now we can appreciate why people like Hatton have to make 14 WBU defenses, to steadily develop. (Not that Hunter is as talented.) Hunter showed some promise, and boxed the right way for three rounds. But it was only a matter of time.

We all know everything in hindsight, but come on, he only won the EBU title this year so what was he doing in there with someone that Vazquez allegedly ducked?

People need to know there place and keep to the level they are suited at. I don't like that all our top Brits want to fight for titles when they're not all fighting each other.

Fighting at a level is fine, but would you want to retire thinking that you never gave it a shot?

Hunter boxed the right way until Molitor warmed up and then started bashing him up. Hunter's own shots were rarely bang on the button, and so even when he did have some success he wasn't able to really make the most of it and keep him under sustained pressure.

But he's just been crushed. Before that he was developing quite well, winning an exciting fight with Pickering, making what must have been good money busily defending his title. Now all of this trauma after being flattered by a lofty IBF ranking.

IMO, get all these guys together, Hunter, Cook, Asiku, Pickering, Dunne, have 'em all fight each other, see if someone can be the last man standing. Even if none got to be proper world class, they could thrill us all on the domestic scene at the very least.

Shame that I agree with James, he started well then was getting countered!

Thought he would of beat the count and tried to comeback then he didn't beat the count.

Maybe if Esham beats Dunne he could get a shot against Molitor, said on BBN that Molitor would be happy to defend against the winner of Dunne/Pickering.

Michael Jones scored a great KO though.

Yeah but the guy's 28 and if he is not in his prime now he is not going to be in a couple of years time fighting at WBU level, and getting criticised in the process. He has had a shot at world title level and was found lacking. Unfortunately for him, that's the story of boxing and rightfully so. It should separate who is and who isn't.

Usually my pissed text messages are very legible. Only once when texting an ex pissed did a read in horror as I saved it. Not that I said anything I should have, it just didn't make any sense.

Well i did say i thought Molitor was a bit special, he has such a level head in the ring, nothing seems to faze him, great speed and accuracy, i was surprised he stopped Hunter early, but maybe he has developed a bit of a bigger punch now.

Molitor is certainly world class, and at least Hunter can say he tried, it was a calculated risk by Hunters' people, this time it didn't pay off.

It reminded me of Femintola-Johanssen. One guy doing well, until the other one starts landing properly.
