The year: 1934. What is the result of their fictional title bout in either Montreal or Paris?

In 34 I'd have to go with Brown's superior ring experience, and I think he'd win a clear but close decision.

Yeah, I agree with you. Brown was ahead of his time. Excellent boxer that used his height and reach very well.

Panama Al Brown wins this one by a very convincing UD.

Ric I like the way you offer up the optional venues. Do you believe the judges might be differently inclined depending on venue here?

Well, Paris essentially was Brown's "hometown." The IBU seemed to support him in everything he did, as his record through the end seems to indicate. But the Parisian fans were not always on his side, as the May 17, 1934 Humery bout showed.

On June 26, 1934, the Montreal Athletic Commission proclaimed Escobar World Champion after he beat Baby Casanova--both fighters, by the way, that Brown reportedly had evaded. The NBA stripped Brown of its version of the world title when he failed to honor a contract to fight Casanova. And the Montreal papers in 1935 mentioned that efforts over the past year to have Brown meet Escobar for the title were also unsuccessful. (The absence of an Escobar fight on Brown's record 1934-35 is a glaring omission, isn't it?)
From newspaper accounts I have read about Escobar 1934-35, he was probably at his peak, in terms of talent and ability. His sleep-inducing right cross was his favorite weapon, as Bobby Leitham (among others) twice discovered.
