I've got a lot of time for Sean - I've seen him a few times and he certainly went out on his shield against Michael Hunter - and his fans were great too.

I say Boxrec's British forum adopt 'Short Fuse' as ours!

im a very close friend of billy corcorans, and ive been speaking to him in depth over the last few days about the fight against sean hughes on friday night. first of all he would like to congratulate sean on what was a great fight. i can ssure you that billys perfomance had nothing to do with the carl johanssen defeat, it was down to drastic weight making! since the fight it has come to light what little food and drink billy had taken on board over the last 4 weeks to make the super bantamweight limit, and i can assure you it was shocking ! you only have to look at biilys last fight against riaz durgahed to see the difference in both performances, against durgahed he was eating properly and felt strong, for the fight with sean hughes he was starving himself and went into the ring feeling very ill and very weak, he was severely dehydrated. hes not blaming anyone but himself and realises it could of proved potentially very dangerous entering the ring in that condition. make no doubt about it hes not taken nothing away from sean hughes who on the night boxed excellant but that was not the real biily corcoran in there. he will now campaign up at featherweight and would love to give sean a rematch that he thoroughly deserves.

Would love to see a rematch of this at the York Hall in January or February.

Thanks for this info. Eight pounds is a lot in the little divisions, certainly.

Hope Billy is okay also. Bad performance or not, he still was part of possibly the British fight of the year.

Excluding Moore vs Macklin of course.

it was obvious billy was drained before the opening bell. he was gaunt and that was 24 hours after the weigh in, potentially a very dangerous practice....

hope it does not happen again.

I'm not wanting to be disrespectful or anything but wasnt Billys trainers aware of the trouble he was having making the weight?... and if they werent aware of it why not?.... what was the idea of him going down to 122 in the first place?.... all in all it seems to have been a very dangerous gamble that could have gone horribly wrong...

i`m just happy corcoran`s allright, when he was talking to sky after the fight i thought he looked absolutely awful.
putting the contreversey aside for a moment one thing that cant be questioned is sean`s and billy`s heart, both rallied back numerous times when they looked in real trouble.

Have to agree with Silkov's sentiments re: Corcoran's weight. I'm not being wise after the event because I expressed my surprise at Billy being slated to fight at Super Bantamweight on another thread along with someone else before the Hughes bout took place.

Reading that post on Billy making weight, the whole idea seems somewhat ill-conceived.

Indeed, while not wanting to take anything away from hughes, Billy looked very frail at the weight, his body and face were emaciated...

Or it could be that Hughes put in a terrific performance, but I suspect it might be a combination of the two. I'd rather not see Billy at this weight again, but we'll see. 8 pounds is an awful lot of weight to shift at these weights.
