Greg Page back in hospital

Former Champ Greg Page has been admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia and other complications, he was in hospital in Feb/March of this year with pneumonia.

The one time heir apparent to the 'Louiseville Lip' really has had a rough time of it in later years.
Did all his ill health stem from his near fatal ring accident where he struck his head whilst getting knocked down by Dale Brown (or was it Crowe?)

It was in Dale Crowe (now on trial for murder, apparently).
All of Page's health problems have stemmed from his injury in 2001 and being confined to a wheelchair, paralysed down one side.
I hope Greg can come back like Michael Watson who suffered some very bad years too.

bit of an update, better news on Greg Page
former heavyweight champion boxer hospitalized last week for pneumonia is showing improvement.
Hospital spokeswoman Barbara Mackovic said former WBA heavyweight champion Greg Page was transferred from Jewish Hospital to Frazier Rehab Institute on Monday.
Forty-eight-year-old Page was admitted to Jewish Hospital on Nov. 24 with pneumonia and other complications.
Page's wife Patricia Page said in a statement released Tuesday by the hospital Greg Page was very ill, but he is doing much better and is looking forward to working hard in therapy.

He was talented, although there were some good ones in the "lost" generation.
Obviously Holmes did get it together and for me is the second/third greatest Heavyweight of all times.
I thought Tim Witherspoon and especially Pinklon Thomas were talented fighter who could have done more.

Tony Tubbs , although he didn't look physically great, he had superb handspeed and surprising footwork. I really think he underachieved.
Think we had this conversation before Stu, but i never really rated Witherspoon.

Cannot remember, probably.
I agree on actually on Tubbs, he was one who fought far better than he looked. Did well for the first round vs Tyson and even at close to 50 is still winning.

Witherspoon was the most solid of the other heavies of that time though... great chin, very underrated jab, good power and awkward defence... not quite the speed of Dokes and Page or the jab of Thomas but put it all together better and had the best fighting brain of all of them.....
