Anyone score it to Quartley? I think an argument can be made for him, he landed the far cleaner more effective blows. I think I had him winning about 5 of the 1st 8rounds and the final round, you could make an argument he won 7rounds and drew the 2nd. The second round he went down in I scored as a draw as it was Quartleys round other than the kd.

I never really score Wrights work highly with his pitter patter punches that definately weren't even connecting properly last night. Quartley landed some very good left hooks and straight rights time and time again.

Now I'm not saying it was a robbery but it was very close and if it werent for the KDs you could make a case for Quartey. I would like to see Quartley getting a title shot at 154 against Spinks or maybe a Mosley fight or whoever has the WBA belt. Wright needs to fight Taylor again but may duck out.

I think he fight was quite close, but the bogus knockdowns really hurt Quartey. Jim Watt was right when he was saying that Quartey was having a hard time putting a serious dent in Winky with his shots, but I think his scoring was totally wrong. There were a few rounds where Wright did fornicate all and Quartey simply outworked him. There were also times when they were both punching and Quartey was doing the better work. All in all I don't really have a problem with the result, but the scoring was farcical. Wright won by a couple of 3 or 4 points including the knockdowns.

The first 6-7 rnds were excellent to watch...so much skill displayed by both...great to see all action combined with great skill and thought.

Just makes you remember what a fighter Oscar De La Hoya was to beat a peak Quartey....I go with the golden boy to get the decision over Mayweather.

Didn't many consider Quartey robbed? Also wasn't Quartey out of the ring for 16months (partly because of Oscar stalling and insisting Quartey didn't take warm up bouts) when they met? And wasn't Quartey coming off a draw?

I had it 8-4 to Wright, plus the 2 two point rounds (one being nonsense).

Quartey looked almost as good as Wright but he was outgunned.

if Taylor had the skills of Quartey he could've beaten Winky!

But then again, Ike's compactness and experience had a lot to do with his success.

Ike has always been one of my favorites since the early days in France. He's a cousin of a friend of mine in London, but I couldn't see how he won that really - though knockdown was a v bad call.

Great perfromance from him though, giving Winky all he could handle. More so when you think how Wright's skills have outclassed fighters like Trinidad etc.

Maybe he could pick up a title at Light Middle.

I had Wright a convincing winner at 116-111 (didn't count the second knockdown which was a bad call by the referee).

I thought Wright won but it was closer than the judges scoring. Quartey was impressive for an 'old boy' with that lay-off behind him and I thought he was competative.

Would have been very interesting had the 'knockdown' in the 8th been the difference on the cards, Quarteys team would have had good grounds to get the result changed because it was clear that there was no reason to call it a KD.

There is a precedent in the past for getting results of fights changed so I wouldn't have been surprised if they were successful too, shame it was academic, would have been a good bit of drama.

Think Quartey would start as favourite vs the Rivera vs Simms winner.

I think Quartey vs Spinks would be very interesting, probably Quartey might start a slight favourite there.

I think you could be justified in calling Quartey the #3 Light Middle in the world. Robbed (IMO) vs Forrest and his Vince Phillips win is still a good one.

If you consider Ouma a Middleweight, then I think only DLH and Dzizdiruk are the only two fighters beyond question that should be ranked above Quartey.

I think with his Phillips win and his performance (should have been a win) over Forrest there is a case for him to be ahead of Spinks, Karmazin, Moseley etc.

Yes, yes, and yes. I personally didn't think it was a robbery, it was one of those that could have gone either way though. Strangely, this fight is never mentioned when Oscar talks about how he was hard done by against Mosley or Trinidad.

Dzizdiruk looks an excellent fighter - might even be the best of the lot at LM, bar ODH....maybe.
