Wayne asked me write the following as he knows several of you guys were asking what was happening with his career recently

Firstly he'd like to thank you for your interest and support.

He is fighting on the December 9th Excel show against french light middle weight Serge Vigne. This is an 8 rounder. Vigne has fought for the french 154 title 3 times and fought, dropped and lost a close decision to current Euro champ Piccirillo.

Wayne is over in Ireland training hard and says he is in great condition after a nice training camp.

He still considers himself to be the number one light middle in UK and is hoping to challenge for the WBO title early next year.
He is confident he can go to Germany and win this and follow in the footsteps of Silky Jones and Maurice Hope as genuine World champions at 154.

Can't believe this guy is actually still fighting & seems to have improved all the way into 2006, no doubt training in Ireland probably saved his career away from all the crack heads and wannabee gangstaz.

I want to see this guy get his shot at a big name fighter and get lucky with one of those hay-makers he can throw.

Sounds promising talk from Wayne. Hope he is focussed on this French guy. Anyone can represent a potential Banana skin for Wayne and vica-versa.

Forgive me for sounding a little cautious, but Wayne Alexander fighting 8 rounders as a pre-cursor for better things doesnt automatically make me think that a win's going to be a straight foward formality.

Its in these low-key, short-distance fights that in the past, Wayne has shown some alarming weaknesses.

I'd love to see Wayne in with Takaloo again.

Wayne wanted to fight but it looked as though Tommy didn't.

Wayne's a great puncher and seems a likeable and intelligent bloke.

He gave the formidable Harry Simon a tough fight and Wayne took the fight at short notice.

Good luck to Wayne, just thinking about his KO of Takaloo makes be have to sleep with the light on for a week.

wayne is a great guy, always ready to natter to anyone, and always talks about the guys on the net !!

Are you the same Simpsons who used to be on britishboxing way back in 2001? Wayne still laughs at the trash you used to talk to each other....Farnell used to be online as well.....
Interestingly now he has retired Wayne doesnt have a bad word to say about Farnell and said when the met last time it was very civilised!!!

I always think that Wayne Alexander and Richard Williams in particular, as well as Steve Roberts, and Takaloo are a sort of "lost generation" of British Light Middleweights. They all seemed to be moving towards world class level, but never fought each other until Alexander beat Tak a couple of years later. Its a pity but none of them seemed to reach their potential

Not entirely his fault, Alexander and Takaloo were with Sports Network, Williams and Roberts I believe were with Matchroom.

Not entirely....but probably mostly.

Wayne says he is looking forward to fighting and beating the WBO champ next year. Dzinziruk is undefeated as a pro and world and european amateur silver medallist, beat Daniel Santos as well as being an Olympian. (He is currently ranked 61st best boxer in the world).

After beating him Wayne will be calling out the winner of Oscar an Mayweather and intends to KO them too

he also says whassup to Simpson, he says he used to work hard and play hard, not anymore, now its just hard work!!!!!

He is not retiring till he is recognised as the best 154lb fighter to come out of this UK and ranked up there with the other great fighters of the division. (winky, curry, simon)

Wayne was in the crowd at the last Sports Network card in the King's Hall and he seemed a decent fella, out there supporting stable mate Eamonn Magee. However i feel he would be in for a painful night if he met the ever improving Dzindziruk. From what i have seen of him the Ukranian is a world class operator with an excellent jab, i think he would break down and stop Alexander in about 8 rounds. Of course Wayne's extreme power always makes it interesting.

Hard fights that probably shouldn't be hard fights are an occupational hazard for Wayne, but more often than not his punch will see him home.

If he gets his shot a the WBO champ, I agree, he could be on the end of a pasting....but with Wayne's two fisted bombs, more than anyone else, it REALLY is not over until the fat lady sings.

If wayne can't get a world title shot by summer and neither can I, then we should box each other and treat the fans(and our bank balances!!). My 1st and last post, but will enjoy reading all your thoughts.

Alexander vs Moore is definately the sort of fight British boxing needs... too many of our top fighters spend too much time being inactive or fighting meaningless 8 rounders, its only through competitive matchups that a fighter is going to have the chance to progress to true world class... Alexanders spent so much time inactive during his career that its a real shame and a waste...

Thats sad, but Wayne is always an accident waiting to happen. Hope he is okay.

I did note that Michael Pass never mentioned "main event" for the Harrison vs Williams fight.

Is this the first time a "main event" hasn't been shown on a televised card in the UK?

amir khan is obviously the main event.
