goodevening everyone, my name is patrick walker and im a 38 year old author who is passionate about sport, ive been guided to this site by a friend of mine who is an amateur boxing referee. and here is the reason why i have been pointed in your directions.

im compiling a book entitled THE VOICES OF PASSION. this should be finished around the middle of next year i would guess, ive already got 3 publishers interested. here is the format for the book that i intend to use, i have already been working on the project for 5 months and its taking shape nicely.

i have decided to choose 4 sports that i feel are followed by the most passionate supporters. this will not include football for this publication as too much has been done about footballs passionate supporters over the years. ive already finished writing my section on cricket and i was lucky enough to meet and interview some fantastic characters from the BARMY ARMY. rugby union is another of my chosen sports and ive decided to meet up with some scottish supporters. darts finishes my quartet of sports, strange choice you might think but believe me, those people are passionate, and passion is what the publication will be all about. its about the real views of real people.

the format will be as follows, i want real passionate UK boxing fans to email me ([email protected]), i want a sort of mini boxing CV from these people. how they became interested in the sport, who their heroes are/were, what is their role (if any) in boxing circles, and why they follow this sport. (professional boxing only please).

i will filter the mail i receive, and contact the individuals i am interested in using as part of my project. Real names will be used in the publication so lets keep this all above board please. there will also be a small photo of each individual inside the sleeve of the publication. im looking for about 6 individuals. the selected individuals will be informed and id like to do the interviews face to face, travelling expenses will be paid and a reasonable fee to each individual who is selected from the cast of hundreds (i hope)

im hoping that the people who run this forum will 'stick' this at the top of the screen, im sure it potentially represents a unique opportunity for each and every one of you people.

Good luck with it! Sounds interesting.

Just out of interest, why did you choose to meet a number of Scottish rugby union supporters for your case study? Murrayfield has as much atmosphere as the moon, and Scottish rugby union supporters never seem overly "passionate" in my view.

In my experience of attending christ knows how many European and international games that the Irish & Welsh supporters are the most passionate (and I say this as an Englishman).

A case study with some Cardiff, Leinster, Munster, or Llanelli fans would be a good one.

Just a suggestion.

Why the Mr, its assumed you are unless you have a title such as Dr or Sir - Patrick is good solid male name so nobody would wonder what sex you are - Anyway the proposed book which sounds a pretty good idear - There are people on here, and I dont include myself, who have a vast knowledge of the sport so you should have quite a few worthy applicants - In fact boxing fans are probably the most passionate of all - You only have to read a few postings here before you realise how much boxing means to some of these guys - Some of us do have boxing connections while others are purely fans who love the sport - Good luck with it anyway, I wish you well.

Go to most of the six nations games (well all the home ones and some of the away ones). I have to say the Scottish fans are the nicest of all the fans I have come accross. They are passionist, but not to the point of being offensive.

Deep down (and I am meaning this as a compliment) I think they know they are not the greatest and take defeat really well. I love Scotland vs Wales games (where ever it takes place). If they think they have been lucky, they say it. If they think we have been lucky - they usually say "well done"

The Irish are a great bunch, but unlike in Cardiff its not a see of Green there - so often you just have people drinking and not interested in the game. So sometimes you might get people thinking "bloody tourist".

I've been trying to get my mates to make a weekend of it in Rome this year. I've never been and I think it will be great. Anyone been for a Rugby weekend there?
