strange how no one else has picked up on this, but its interesting that hennessy sports have pipped fight academy to the UK leg of the hatton vegas PPV in january.
this is very unusual and shows how empty the wardrobe is as far as championship class fighters coming through with fight academy is. normally the same promoter will run both shows.
a good source informed me that FA tried to convince sky that matthew hatton taking part in a 'domestic' eliminator would be good enough for the UK side of things. obviously sky were having none of it and its now presumed that matthew hatton will/might fight on the vegas undercard.
there must be lots of egg on fight academy faces as mick hennessy has shown his true class and 'pipped them' at the post !!
its about time some fighters graduated from this 'academy'. im sure junior witter will be pleased to accept some of ricky hattons PPV money...

I wonder how many Eastern Europeans they'll be putting on the undercard to make it look like Witter has a fan base.

I wonder if FA would have been beaten at the post had Woods not been injured.
Lets face it outside of Sports Network none of the other promoters can put a PPV "worthy" bill together, let alone individually.
I have a prediction that this thread is going to pick up.... I might be wrong, but have a feeling.

there is no doubt FA could stump up enough quality to host the PPV off their own back, but as usual promoters are reluctant to put all of their eggs into one basket and miss out on another sky tv sponsored pay day. but they could only do that by putting clinton on their uk bill, they have no other fighters who are even domestic title holders.
they try and bluff the tv companies with sub standard offerings but sky etc are becoming wise to it. and this time hennessy sports have nipped in there by keeping their ear very close to the ground. im not just blowing hennessy sports trumpet but im dam pleased that we can watch witter etc on the uk side than suffer matthew hatton v latvian pole dancers husbands second cousin twice removed. at least the PPV is more appealing now. will be great to watch the hitman live from vegas, but we are getting a bit more for our money now. im interested how the 2 promoters fill up their undercards for this event. it has the capacity to now be a fantastic night for british boxing. its just a shame that hatton wants no part of witter.
was not long ago that sports network snook in with a purse bid and stole clinton woods v glencoffe johnson from under FA's nose.
thats 2 knockdowns for FA.
does the 3 knockdown rule apply here...

Its only Clinton Woods, FA can show that could really headline a UK leg of a PPV - and he is injured.
The rest of the FA stable aren't of British title standard, so I cannot think they would be part of a UK legged PPV.
The only way a FA card minus Woods would be part of the PPV is if Sky feel Ricky is worthy of PPV on a poor card (and chances are they do). They would probably contemplate putting on a UK card headlined by say Matthew Hatton on Sky Sports.

well that is what they tried to do stu, so ive heard, but sky were having none of it (and rightly so) and meaty mick hennessy stepped in with an offer of bouts which is better for fans and viewers anyway.

is a good thing to have witter on same show no doubt bout that, and will be very interestin to here post fight interviews, no doubt hatton will be hopin witter struggles so he can continue to avoid a domestic showdown

hatton is avoiding witter for sure, but without this thread turning into another hatton v witter one i fail to realise what team hatton are playing at.
the public complained about maussa and collazo as opponents but the word from team hatton was that they took the fight because of the titles not the opponents.......
then team hatton relinquish the titles that they had raved about winning.....
then junior scoops the WBC bauble and team hatton are not interested in the title cos its all about the opponent....
then they choose (along with the american tv network) to fight urango, who is a bit of a novice if you look at his record...
all very perculiar, seems they are singing off about 4 different song sheets, whichever one suits at the time !!

Witter doesn't bring much, does he? No fans, less money and a style that has the potential to bore people to death. I'd rather see Hatton/Urango.

styles make fights, and hattton would come at junior cos hatton knows no other way, so therefore there would be good action, witter v any counter puncher is a potential bore-fest though.
junior might be well behind hatton in the fan amounts, but he holds something that hatton will never have, the WBC crown....so if ricky wants it, and junior still has it, then hatton has got to come to the party. it would be a massive domestic event.

ricky makes the fight in every way doesn't he.
junior brings his we be cheats title and that's it.
maussa was a unification and an easier one after tszyu.
collazo was the best available opponent on offer as well as holding a title at a higher weight.
witter has to start looking exciting and we'll get the fight. i still think hatton won't retire until fighting witter.
patience ya scruffy old git.

What are you on about? Hatton, despite his little trip into the welterweights, is still the linear champion at light-welter. The WBC 'crown' means sod all. Witter's title has zero credibility; he beats N'dou (just, even though he had his man down), follows that by getting an absolute gift against Kotelnik, fights a man out of his depth in Lynes (who was beaten more impressively by both Lenny Daws and Sam Malinga), and finally beats an over the hill Demarcus Corley, again, just. Witter desperately needs Hatton, not the other way around. And to be fair with the JLC fight just around the corner Witter will have to make do with his WBC 'crown' and the Arturo Morua's of this world... who knows he might not struggle, for a change.

I agree. Morua has never been anything better than fringe world class and it's doubtful whether he's even that anymore. Morua may well be rated 15 by the WBC but there are at least 25-35 better fighters at the weight. Junior is lucky Hatton's (probably) taking on the winner of the WBC #1/#2 box off. The WBC rankings (outside of Castillo and Harris and Hopkins) looks pretty weak.

Be interesting to see if JLC vs Hatton is as set as being made out. JLC vs Njoudjo (fight of the night, far from a gimmie) is an eliminator for the WBC title.
As Witter won a vacant title, I would imagine the WBC might force Witter to defend against the winner of that fight in a certain number of days.
JLC (or the winner I should say) might just choose that route, especially if Hatton suffers an injury vs Urangutan.

You need to worry about Hatton instead Scrubboy.
Hatton is the one that has to produce in his next fight or he's facked.
And Rhinos right FA have zero depth, Woods is one loss away from retirement, and their so called prospects like Feminine Fehintola are wack!
I would go as far to say they actually detract from Ricky's show by putting his Brother on the same card as him....he sucks that bad!

you mention 'unification' ...
you mention 'title at a higher weight' ...
then hatton drops all of the titles and claims titles mean nothing.

He can explain nothing, never has....that why i seriously think he dreams about going down on Hatton.
And your right about Scrubboy1 wanting to be Spuds knob-shine assistant....i bet he would let Spud sit on his face just to meet his hero.
All we ever see from scrubboy1 is "next year will be a big one" and childish use of emoticons.
He's too retarded to realise that everything is begining to fall apart in Hattons career and that his worst nightmare has already happened when Jnr Witter became WBC champ.
Scrub even has to admit that Cotto would drill Hatton after years of saying otherwise.

Hatton may be 'linear', but a linear title does not make you undisputed best in a a division and a linear title can be abused by not fighting the best and Hatton is doing just that at the moment. Erdei is linear at 175 but he isn't near the best and doesnt go near the best unless the judges have been sufficiently bribed (Garay).
Witter/Harris/Mbaiye/Judah (hes back) are the top 4 contenders at 140lbs not Castillo who is unproven at 140 aged at 33 (when he fights at 140) got a gift against Cassa and lost and beat Corrales while cheating. Has he been chosen because its suspected Castillo will be aged like many Hatton opponents? Anyway it should be a great fight if Castillo still has IT.
Saying Witter got a gift against Kotelnik is bullshit, Kotelnik did nothing for 6rounds and Witter outworked him in the last round. That makes the scores 7-5. Witter looked bloody awful but he did win it. Hes looked better since by shutting out Corley.
Witter has been learning through mistakes against top10 opponents just like Hatton did when he made mistakes against Magee/Thaxton/Tackie/Phillips. Witter showed stamina and pacing himself problems and Hatton showed defensive problems that nearly saw him getting stopped.
I will give Hatton his props as a true champ (hes a top fighter already)when he faces the best and looks to clean out 140 (which is thin on the ground), any 3 from Castillo, Witter, Judah, Mbaiye, Harris. Or alternatively take the Mayweather fight thats been offered to him on about 5 occasions.

I'm only getting this because Witter is on the PPV too, otherwise I would of went for downloading.

I prefer Witter's style to the Neanderthal high work rate body slamming style that is Hatton's.
I'm a fan of both though and Hatton would not be intimidated if Witter suddenly stopped and was making you wonder whats he upto though. Thats why they need to fight each other, so many questions unanswered.
I favour Witter though If Hattton fights like he did with Callazo, fighting Mayweather or Witter will get him busted up. The way he fought Tszyu was much better.

Thinking back at this thread, is it such a good idea for Witter to be part of the PPV. I mean, no US coverage anyway and a futher restricted UK audience.
I don't know what the viewing figures are of UK PPV's, but I imagine they are not much higher (if at all) than the usual Friday fight night... plus the viewers are only going to be the hardcore fans who already are familiar with Witter and want ot see the match up.

Hatton can't really call himself champ at 140, linear or otherwise, if he ditched the belts - not like he was unfairly stripped..

Of course he can, you can't be stripped of/dump a linear title, it can only be won or lost in the ring. As far as I know, nobody has beaten him, and there's nobody else that has a decent claim to the title.
