Audley-Danny afterthought....

A good performance, one he really needed.
How far can Audley go now? Should he look towards a showdown with Skelton and then a world title shot late in the year? I think he beats Skelton but needs to perform like that again before really redeeming himself. As long as he's fit and not running scared he could go pretty far.

ITV are going a bit OTT saying he's a world title contender. Having said that, one more win and he'll probably get a crack at Valuev.

I think he beats Sketlon. That win would have boosted his confidence bigtime, showed he can fight and throw leather, hopefully he's got rid of his demons. Who is training Audley nowadays? Emanuel Steward would do him well.

Skelton would've been a lot tougher than Williams. It was an impressive stoppage, but Williams offered nothing but an easy target and a few winging punches after he was cut. I'd still favour Skelton.

I favour Skelton still.
I'd favour Dominquie Guinn still.
So hard to judge that cause Williams was awful, brave but awful.

Surprised at how much love they were giving him, although I think McGuigan seemed eager to take back what he had said before. Fair play to Audley but the Williams he stopped was desperate and careless due to the cuts - plus he couldn't have been 100% anyway coming in at such short notice. A good win but as I said above, he needs to show more of that against better opposition. Skelton would be a start. If he were to stop Skelton he'd get a lot more respect.

I agree, if he beats (and especially stops) Skelton, I would change my tip against Guinn and I'd also think he might just win a title.
I'd favour Skelton over Briggs.
Just hope Skelton is fully focused on the boxing.

I'm not sure about Skelton over Briggs. Skelton certainly has the workrate to wear Briggs out, but he's never been difficult to hit and Briggs really does bang.

Agree totally. Skelton will be a real test of Harrison's heart and new found desire. Skelton will simply not allow Harrison the space that he was afforded tonight. Having said that, Harrison turned in easily the best performance of his career tonight.
Williams was a brave and game sitting duck, who became very, very open as he was forced to gamble more after the cut opened up. It's difficult to see where Danny will go after this, he's looked progressively slower, and easier to hit over the last few outings.

It took 20 odd fights for Audley to realise what the pro game is all about. Talking about himself in the third person as the world champion elect because he won Olympic gold will never be enough. A fire was lit up his arse, with all the justified criticism, and he produced the goods on THIS occasion. He needs to shed the conceit of what it might be to become world champ and concentrate wholeheartedly on what he needs to be in becoming just that. Oh BTW he should stop talking about the boxing public getting behind Audley, the third person, and just do the what he did tonight, to other fighters who have had a proper training camp, and then maybe people might warm to him. And BTW stop talking about yurself in the third fvcking person. Its unnessecary.

Jim Rosenthal just said "no belts at stake in the big heavyweight title fight tonight"

The win doesn`t really mean anything on the world scene...Scott Gammer was looking forward to getting the win over Danny only recently.
Danny did what you should never do with Fr-Audley...stand in front of him doing nothing.
The big thing is, who has Fr-Audley got behind him pulling the strings in regard of securing a title chance?
The heavyweight title is easier to win now than a goldfish at a fairground...so absolutely anybody can win one...and that goes for Fr-Audley

Good that Audley showed bottle hope he repeats it, if Shannon Briggs can win a title then Audley can and needs to repeat that as I'm still unsure.

Yes Skelton would be a bigger ask, but I don't rate Skelton highly anyway, his first fight with Williams should have been a draw and the rematch, Williams came in the heaviest of his career. Skelton's style is very poor.
If Audley establishes his jab and shows Skelton his power early in the fight, I think he wins, now we know he can do that.

After seeing Warren applauding Audley after the fight, perhaps it will be him behind him pulling the strings from now on.

Still not that impressed by Audley, he still looks terrified of getting hit and his jab is terrible for such a big man.
He says he can fight on the inside, but he just looks to hold.
Lets face it the bloke will be 36 before he gets any kind of title shot and i still wouldn't bet on him against any half decent seasoned American.....i mean who would put money on Harrison against a Hassim Rahman or James Toney?....heck i wouldn't even back him against Oliver McCall.
Harrison might do ok against the Eastern Europeans though..but undisputed i think not.

I guess this means Warren is going to promote Audley in the future?
The other day Warren said he will never work with Scott Harrison ever again, remember him saying the same about Danny Williams too, he is full of shite, allegedly.

I'd have it the other way around, Harrison might do well against the seasoned Americans, but he would get sparked by the Eastern Europeans (Wladimir, Valuev, maybe Maskaev)

So does Wlad and he's the IBF champ.
any half decent seasoned American
Dude there getting beat by Eastern Europeans, yet your saying he'll do ok against the Euros.

I thought Audley loked pretty good, though Williams clearly has little left. My worry is that he HAD to perform well tonight, the pressure was massive. When he has to go into a fight first time again not knowing what he might do in a rematch will he lose his bottle again? I still think he has a problem

Your talking to the wrong person if your saying Wlad is all that, as soon as his china chin gets stroked again it will be all over.
As for the Eastern Europeans beating the American Heavys, i reccon their 15 minutes of fame will be ending pretty soon.

Who'll be doing that then... Briggs, Ruiz, Brewster, Thompson, Brock?

I don't think there is one single up and comming American Heavy that beats them all, i just think they will get beat one by one in fights they were favourite to win.

Worst case scenario to come out of this is that Skelton VS Audley might be remotely competitive and interesting. If Audley goes on to do something in the game, then good on him, but I'm not too excited.
