Its on Viasat Sport 1 in scandinavia and its also on a channel called SportKlub (Polish?)

Any idea what time it will be? Moscow is 3 hours ahead of the UK (I think) so I'm guessing it will be around 6 or 7pm uk time?

Out broadcast starts at 7pm UK time. They will show Povetkin vs Mayfield and Maskaev vs Okhello live.

Seems Maskaev won a wide decision knocking Okhello down in the tenth. More interestingly serious prospect Alexander Povetkin KO'd Imamu Mayfield in 3 rounds knocking him down twice. Povetkin is a dead cert future world champion IMO let's hope his handlers don't hide him away in Germany making defences of a WBO strap though.

Povetkin is being matched tough early on and is coming thru with seeming flying colours.

Only seen him once or twice and he had looked a bit open and on the small side but he is probably the most exciting prospect out there.

SN dropped the ball by not pinning him down and getting his signature.

They know he has talent so their ballsy enough to throw him in with solid opponents who will test him, making him a tough bastard to beat ina few years.

Can you imagine if Audley had made his debut with Michael Murray, and then mixed in with the likes of Pele Reid, Potter, Holden, Francis, Keith Long early on? (basically what Skelton did)

Can you imagine how much more improved he would be, how much better his credibility...?

Might not be too long before Sprott is lining up against Povetkin.
He is doing the rounds out there in Germany,taking on and in some cases beating a few prospects.

On a side note (not worthy of a seperate thread, although a bit unrelated). Has anyone seen the Lyakovich vs Briggs KO on a TV screen and with the use of replays. Now, I am not criticising the stoppage as no way Lyakovich was in a fit state to continue after the first KD (the longest I have ever seen a guy lift up his hands to defend himself). However, I don't think Briggs landed the punch that put him down through the ropes. Briggs landed a barrage waited, went for another barrage and missed with those shots.

It was a bit similar to the unofficial KD in round 13 of Hearns vs Leonard 1.

Yes it was, by both guys. Its quite ironic that Briggs' last attempt for a world title ended with him being stopped without him being KO'd by a punch. If you remember, Briggs (who had been legitimately down 2 or 3 times) try to wind a right hand up, missed, fell got up, only for the ref to be waving it off.

we cant learn too much from it as it was so brief but he certainly looked bulkier/thicker in the middle then he has in the past..

He is active and lots to throw lots of shots but Mayfield's face looked like one resigned to defeat at the end, as opposed to someone who had be KO'ed.

Still, his ambitious levels of matchmaking tell me his is one to watch.

More than a passing resemblence to a heavyweight Ricky Hatton I would say as well..

He reminded me a little bit of Jerry Quarry appearance wise.

That's actually the first I've seen of him (it seems quite hard to find footage) so I've just been following his career by results. I have too say he didn't look as good as i Imagined he would, early days though I suppose.

I had high hopes for the new generation of eastern Euro Heavies Povetkin and Boytsov in particular. I hope at least one of them turns out to be the real deal.

I was thinking the exact same thing throughout that clip. Povetkin is raw at times but appears to possess the tools and potential to do very well. His Matchmaking has been good so early on, Castillo, Ahunanya, Mayfield etc This WBC bill was a good showcase for him back home as well.

Why did they bother with this shit?

I mean did Oleg's people log onto the Boxrec ratings, flick through Heavyweights rated 50-150, close their eyes and put their finger on the screen and say "that one." And of course the pathetic pricks at the WBC said "Sure no probs. Just as long as we get a fee go hog wild."

He didn't look that bad in there. I was actually surprised he called it quits when he did, he seemed to be on a roll. Not the biggest shock that he is back.

However, I did think he was an intelligent person (if a loose cannon). His reason for coming back is strange. He thinks he can beat these Russians based on him fighting alot of Russians in the Amateurs. I believe only Klitchsko had a good amateur background.

When Toney was a light heavy, I always wanted to see Moorer move down and fight James.... a real one for the skills. Perhaps it will happen at Heavyweight.
