dont know much but i think the masters was to give the small hall fighters something to fight for and i think if the champion is challenged he has to fight or vacate, theres no ratings i believe.

celtic titles are for scottish, irish and welsh fighters but not much interest has been noticed.

hope this helps and if im wrong plz update me.

I think the criteria is that you have to be able to trace your roots back through history to central Europe around 400/500BC.

Hi Mr 50,

the Celtic title is a load of old rubbish - PC madness. There were already a Welsh, Irish, All-Ireland & Scottish title in the offering, and now aftre all the area title of England we've even been given an English belt (which I like, I'd just get rid of the area titles now & have the 4 national ones plus the All-Ireland title...).

However the Celtic title is supposed to be for the Welsh, Scottish and Irish fighters to work towards aftre their national belts, the same way the area champions go for the English title........... then the real elite go for the British belt.

The British-Masters title is a completely different concept. When they first brought it out it was supposed to be an annual tournament at each weight where fighters would go into a draw of 4 or 6 fighters over the course of 12 months (a bit like an amateur tournament - or superfighter, but over a few months instead of all in one day) and the BBofC even had ideas of having a European-Masters tournament etc etc. However the idea flagged (much like most tournament ideas - if supposed to be a regular thing) and a lot of fighters pulled-out through injury or better offers etc. The one who benefitted most was Michael Aldis who used it as a way to get back into national title contention.

Alas, aftre the trouney-idea was dropped the title has unfortunately hung around in places - where it should just be binned.

Hope this helps, best wishes

ps: it does make you wonder why the BBBofC don't have all this info on their (urrently-completely-pathetic) website, doesn't it?

it is a shi-ite website isnt it?

Same as at world level, there is duplication and complexity.

What would be the best way to re-organise it.

Do we need a Commonwealth Belt? isnt it a halfway house to Euro or African belt level? (depending on ur nationality of course)

As for Area Belts, and English/Scots etc belts, isnt it better to narrow the field a bit, otherwise would there not be 16-ish Contenders for British Belt, whereas by having Area and English Belts (Scots Belt is apparently actually Scottish Area belt), we narrow it down to 4, because the contenders are getting defeated in Area Title bouts or English Title bouts - if those fights did not happen the fighters would be knocking on the door of the British Title holder, and how do you decide the worthy mandatory?

I may have stopped making sense a while ago, but hey....

Not at all Mr 50,

I like the idea of scrapping Area title and having: English, Scottish, Welsh & Irish titles and the British title being one above. However having however-many area titles in England, AND an English title, AND A British title....

Plus you are correct, the national titles of Scotland, Wales & Ireland are actually only "area" titles, not national

Don't ask me - I'd give the BBBofC a serious kick up the behind from ground-level-upwards if they let me be in charge.

best wishes
