Our Howard did well going 7 with Miranda. I was in his dressing-room after he KOd Richard Williams on Friday, and he is still convinced that the Miranda stoppage was too premature and that he was alright to carry-on.

Miranda should definately get a crack at Taylor.

What for? For knocking out a bum like Gibbs?

The fact is, many people would like to see this fight happen, because Miranda is a big strong middlweight who will bring the fight to Taylor and try to knock his head off, and has the power, if maybe not the technique to do so.

Whether or not he has earnt his shot in your eyes, it is a compelling fight, which will at the least force Taylor to make a committed effort, because Miranda is not going to just meekly capitulate.

I would be surprised. Taylor couldn't even KO Ouma, who did little but march toward him. Miranda is going to lay a few on Taylor, who will have to endure his first chin check, he's not really been in with any big punchers at all so far.

Miranda may not techniquely be the best boxer out there, but he's great to watch and has a bang like a nucleaur bomb!

Just goes to show what a good performance Abraham put out with a broken jaw as well to quell the power of Miranda and outbox him with that terrible injury. Abraham is deceptive, only pulls it out when necessary.

As for Miranda-Taylor, Miranda's power makes any fight interesting....after all Abraham's jaw didn't bust itself!

I think Kelly Pavlik is going to make some waves at middle and super middleweight. Got some good KO wins, over Bronco McKart and Leonard Pierre.

He can knock down walls though - Taylor wont fancy a genuine 160 puncher coming at him, seeing as he was on the backfoot with a LM recently.

Yes, just because Taylor can beat a light middle non puncher (an arm puncher at that), has NO BEARING on how he fares against a hungry, somewhat improving, power puncher.


I have to say, Hopkins is a decidedly unimposing middleweight - in terms of raw physical talent. Hopkins gets mad respect from me for his set of skills & his fitness/dedication. And for always having his wits about him. He has shown that counts for a lot.

But he was 40 & skeletal, for F sake.

I've seen Antwun Echols and Segundo Mercado give prime Hopkins some trouble. He wasn't totally in control of either guy until the rematches. But I've seen Frankie Liles toy with Mercado, and I've seen Mundine knock Echols spin-dizzy with his handspeed.

If Taylor was what everyone said he was, he should've been able to do better vs Hopkins. I know it's hard if someone wants to spoil,, but after every performance since Hopkins I, Taylor has finished the 12th round looking mightily unimpressed with his own boxing.


What I'm getting round to saying is,Taylor's sampled some real skills. But let's see him vs youth, power, speed, free flowing punches, decent size, before all this premature praise.

Gibbs sat out the count and then got up after 10 claiming he was ok to continue?! I hate it when fighters do this type of thing,you can't get your senses scrambled and then after you have regained your composure 10 minutes later start claiming you could have carried on...still male pride and all that!

Miranda carries serious power and that makes him dangerous with anyone in the world, would Jermain Taylor fancy keeping a raw, strong guy like Miranda at bay for 12 rounds? Doubt it. Taylor's response to solid pressure off a strong Middleweight is open to question in my opinion.

I remember watching Miranda in with a guy called Varela a while back, he actually impressed me with his basic skills and variety. Still Abraham handled him well against the odds too (broken jaw) so i get the impression with the right tactics a good world class boxer will make him run out of ideas and frustrate him. Still he is fun to watch so long may "Pantera" entertain us
