Could John L have competed with a guy as big as Kimbo Slice? With his knowledge of modern day offense...and perhaps his use of steroids?

I'm not going for a "troll" moment here....It seemed a reasonable scenario though it has comic aspects I suppose.

John L would have sliced up slice. If Kimbo could fight he would be fighting the pro boxing circuit instead of beating up homies in back yards for 15 seconds of youtube fame.

Well that's why I stuck with the "BareKnuckles" aspect. My guess that if it was boxing it might not be competitive even with the size difference.

It would not be competititve at bare knuckle either. Kimbo has beaten up a few street fighters in dubiously legitimate backyard slugging events, trying to market himself as a bad ass, while Sullivan fought the best bare knucklers of his era -for over a decade- and was undefeated in London Prize ring rules.

Kimbo pulls up in a dark SUV, throws in his mouth piece and proceeds to hand articles of his clothing to his homeboy driving the SUV. All of Kimbos posse surround the yard yelling like they were in C-Block of Central Booking.

Kimbo comes straight out at the white man with quick ending on his mind. "Run these, Run these!!" screamed Kimbo as he lounged in for his one hook at a time offense. Sullivan, who until this moment hadn't even bothered to raise his hands side stepped perfectly a left hook and landed 7 shots unanswered. Since there is no end of round until a knockdown, John L needs several minutes of nicely laced body shots and properly thrown counter shots to put Kimbo down for the first time.......

15 minutes later Kimbo is unable to continue and John L Sullivan becomes the new bodyguard of porn site actors.

So in the final analysis 100 years of educational potential and likely steroid use and a 60 pound weight advantage would not overcome good old fashioned discipline and task focus.

Actually it would be more like: Kimbo throws a left hook, John L a right and Mr Slice is carried back to the SUV.

Do you have any idea how many kids reading this thread think we do not have a clue? That Kimbo would be too big too strong and with the weight advantage and the turbo kick of the steroids, John L would be not much more than a victim.

This is how little consideration is given to knowledge and discipline in the real world. Or at least to a certain generational thinking of "the real world".

Kimbo Slice would lose against any decent boxer/MMA fighter. Sullivan would demolish Kimbo. I don't think it'd be over in 10 seconds, but he'd give Kimbo a heavy beating. Someone on another forum mentioned Taylor vs Kimbo.. sure Kimbo may outweight taylor by about 100 pounds give or take, but Taylor would give Kimbo a horrible beating. Kimbo is just a good streetfighter, he'd probably make a decent boxer for the first two rounds, but after that his stamina would run out and he'd start taking a beating. Now put a boxer almost any decent boxer, in a streetfight, and you'll have a great streetfighter. Imagine Brewster vs Slice, he'd rip Kimbo's face apart and he's not even a great boxer. (Although his heart is unquestionable.)

Let's be more realistic. How about a Kimbo-Butterbean bout?

Good freak show, eh? The winner gets to fight a real fighter.

I just watched Kimbo getting beaten by Sean Gannon. I'm pretty sure Sullivan would beat him handily.

I was thinking about the Gannon fight while reading the thread.
I think that pretty much much sums up what Kimbo is about, I really don't see any way he could have ruffled John L.

Well Butterbean at least fought a 52 year old Larry Holmes and got schooled til he scored a 10th rd. knockdown and lost a UD...

But anyway Butterbean would knock Kimbo the fornicate out too, if Gannon's chump-ass could beat up on Kimbo then Butterbean would simply brutalize him, at least he has some kind of stamina beyond 2 mins. despite being a tub of lard.
