Kell could be better then Witter!

A SEVENTY-FIGHT veteran today made an astonishing prediction about Sheffield boxing prospect Kell Brook: "He'll be better than Junior Witter."
David Kirk was flattened by a thunderous first-round right-hander delivered by the 20-year-old 12 days ago, at the ExCel Arena, in London.
The cut the punch inflicted was enough for the ref to call off the bout - and left Kirk reflecting on the awesome future which lies at the Hillsborough lad's feet.
"I have fought all the up and coming kids, but this one is special" said Kirk.
"He's definitely someone for the future. All he's got do now, is stay down-to-earth, keep working hard, and listen to the advice of someone as experienced as his trainer Dave Coldwell. I can see him go all the way."
In 2001, Kirk was beaten by Sheffield's Witter, who has now gone on to rule become WBC light heavyweight champion. Witter and Brook used to be stablemates at the Ingle gym before Brook moved on.
Kirk, from Sutton in Ashfield, said: "Oddly enough I was planning to retire after the Witter fight, so I wasn't really bothered about it, at the time.
"I'd lost to Witter on points as an amateur and he was a very awkward opponent as a pro.
"But I can honestly see Kell actually eclipsing what he's done, winning more than one world title" said the 10-year veteran, who beat Ricky Hatton's brother Matthew, in 2002, and has fought the likes of Jon Thaxton, Michael Jennings and Colin Lynes.
"Kell is aggressive and so focused. I tried to put him off his stride in our fight by goading him, saying I bet his Mum hits harder than he does. But everything I said to unsettle him had no impact and he just stuck to his job and got me with a big over-hand right" said Kirk, a 32-year old southpaw (73 fights, W11, L59 D3)
"His combination of speed and power was bang-on. I never get cut normally but he had sort of pushed down on his punch and cut my skin under my eye so badly that the ref stopped it."

Just wanted to be the first to jump on the writers error, I presumed you didn't work at the Sheffield Paper - they might actually give you some work instead of having you surf boxiung sites all day. Actually thats probably exactly what they do all day.
You hear about so many fighters - hes the next 'Hamed' etc esepcially from Sheffield trainers
Do you still post on ESB? I was banned

Kell left the Ingle gym why?
Without them he will not be ninja enough to surpass Witter.

This is ridiculous from Kirk.
It's five years and thirty defeats since Kirk boxed Witter. it's hardly comparable is it?
No disrespect to Brook but the comparison is meaningless.

yeah they do, in fact Sports Network use Ingle fighters on a very regular basis.
i think there was a fall-out post Naz but that's all in the past.
as for Kell, i heard he was lured away by messrs Warren and Coldwell with the promise of greater TV exposure and a future match with Amir Khan.

yes they do but they use ingle fighters on the wrong side of the bill!

Looks like Brook(s

) is facing Gary Young:
Warren sets up Young with one Kell of an opponent
BRIAN DONALD
EDINBURGH welterweight boxing ace Gary Young is facing his toughest challenge yet after his new promoter, allegedly, lined up a fight against unbeaten Englishman Kell "The Kid" Brooks.
The contest will take place on March 17 at London's York Hall and Young said: "When I signed with allegedly's Sportsnetwork group in December, I told him that I didn't want any easy journeyman opponents but to clash with top-notch prospects or proven quality opponents.
"All credit to Frank, he has certainly kept his part of the bargain by putting me in over eight rounds with Brooks, who is unbeaten in 12 pro bouts with six knockouts or stoppage wins. He's a really dangerous opponent.
"I have to answer to my own satisfaction the personal questions about my own future in boxing by fighting guys like Brooks who can punch and box and is equally hungry for title glory.
"So, without exaggeration, this is a make or break career fight for me. If Brooks wins, then a question mark will hang over my future as a championship contender.
"My coach, Peter Harrison, know this and that is why - even though the bout isn't until March - he has already sent for tapes of Brooks boxing.
"We can work out a strategy to beat him and can employ the right kind of sparring partners who can imitate Brook's slippery style.
"I saw Brooks when we shared an undercard spot against different opponents on an Alex Arthur show at Meadowbank last year and he's smart, moves well and has a good stiff jab and is really highly-regarded in England, so beating him will increase my chances of fighting for a title later this year."

Brian Donald is simply one of the worst journos I've ever come across and drives me insane when he consistently invents quotes or rewrites them to make all Scottish boxers sound like MENSA members. Where have you ever heard someone say in conversation:
"I have to answer to my own satisfaction the personal questions about my own future in boxing by fighting guys like Brooks who can punch and box and is equally hungry for title glory..."
Utter nonsense.
