Just reading his book. Interesting bit on how allegedly FW got into the game.

Its a decent read, if you enjoy it I recommend Roy Shaws book. He gives a different perspective of their fights (you can get footage of one of their fights on the net, where Lenny gives him a right shellacking)

There is no footage of their first meet where Roy beat him though..

Shaw was an old man when he got into the unlicensed game and so its not a true reflection of his fighting prowess in his pomp, but he is still an insanely hard man.

Lenny's book is a good read although its supposedly littered with inaccurancies and fails to mention the majority of his losses.

The McLean book is trashy - I give it credit for influencing this genre of non fiction hardboy writing, but it's not a great book and you feel that there's shitloads that he's not telling and glossing over. Bit trashy and sensationalistic.

The Paul Briggs book is way better - and it's easier to verify! Not only that but it's a convincing spiritual journey. About more than just banging two ppl's heads together like coconuts. It's an astonishing book - particularly his description of being in a 'sweat lodge' to purge his inner demons - and anyone who avoids buying it is a certified wanker!

As to Lenny vs Shaw, Lenny says there was something wrong with his gloves in the 1st fight. Wouldn't close properly, or didn't fit. With the 2nd, Shaw says he overdosed on ginseng! lol

Lenny McLeans book is a load of old bollocks. The man was a fat bully who could have a scrap. Thats it.

Ive got shitty footage of their 2nd and 3rd fights. McLean batters Shaw badly in both. In their 3rd fight Shaw is actually punched sparko through the ropes and is dangling suspended from the ring by the ropes, by his feet - clinical finish by McLean.
