Has anyone used or got a freestanding punchbag, i'm thinking of getting one, but as no-where near me sells them, so it would be mail-order, therefore i can't try before i buy.

any advice on which is good would help. cheers

Bit expensive but they look good.

You best bet is to look on ebay though

Slam Man is great for a bit of aerobic fitness and co-ordination but useless as a boxing aid - there is no give in either the shape or fabric, after a couple of weeks you'll have wrist problems and/or hand issues.

I have yet to find a free stander that works - there is a reason all gyms have heavy bags hung from the wall...

I think the main reason is price Loynsey, I have a protec free standing bag and think its the bee knees. A Welsh amateur from the late 70's has also gone on this bag (put on a few lbs since) and thinks its fantastic - better than any ceiling to floor jobby.

You'd have to have dynamite power to knock it over. The only qualm I had with is, is that I broke the weld once - luckily there was a welder in the family to that was fixed and also sometimes you can punch through the foam and onto the metal middle (really does hurt).

However, with the hitting the metal it is rare, the timing would have to be exact to catch it right. I would say its happen about 4 times with me in 3 years of usage. The break of the weld might have been due to wear and tear, but I'm quite chuffed to gloat about it.

If your a Danny Williams sized fighter than perhaps its not for you. But I've seen 15/16 stoners who can throw a punch and the bag is great.

The BBE punchman is in the next sale £155+£5 delivery. They are £199 in Argos.

Only problem is when I took one to checkout it says 4 weeks for delivery.
