After his last blowout defence, Edwin Valero has been calling out Manny Pac. Do you think this fight will happen, and if it does, who wins?
Pac obviously has a big advantage in experience, but Valero seems to have awesome power. Id favour Pac to win in 3, but Valero has the power to spark Pac. It wont last long whichever way

Possibility if it's in the Phillipines.

Just about everyone wants to see this fight. Valero certainly has the raw power to KO anyone at Super feather, but he'd certainly be in over his head against Pacquiao.

It is certain Pacquiao is 3 levels above anyone Valero has been in with. Anyone with Valero's power has a chance, but you can say that about any match-up involving a puncher.

Depends how good Valero is. A big puncher who can counterpunch might be Pacs worse nightmare. Then again Pacs speed and power may be too much for Valero who maybe too poor defensively and too straight up. Valeros young, hungry and unbeaten so it could be a real war. Valero supposedly has underated boxing skills. His managers have said he won't be ready for 3fights but he wants the fight NOW. If Arrum wants the fight it will happen.

True, but the puncher's chances go up if he's got a great chin, which is very rare, and going by his title win, Valero has the heart and chin to compete with the best of em.

Mosquera had Valero in trouble and Vicente Mosquera isn't Manny Pac. As much as Valero is an unknown quantity, Pacman's class and quality is beyond question.

Similar to when Pacman stepped up to face Barrera in fact - he'd been KO'd previously and MAB was seen as The Man.

Things can change very quickly in boxing, which is what makes this a superfight.

Oh it's a great fight on paper... I just think in reality it could be a blowout win for Pacman.

It would be a hell of a fight while it lasted. GET IT ON!

Arum is talking about doing it in Wynn's new hotel in Macau on the 28th April if Barrera sticks with the Marquez match.

Valero's handlers are understandbly wary but Pacman is the hottest boxer on the planet and has seemed to have one eye on his life after boxing so it could be too good an opportunity to let slip.

I watched Valero sparring on Maxboxing and he looked very tidy but i don't know if he can be pursuaded use his boxing skills in a fight now as his KO's are what he is identified by now.

say he has to wait a while, two or three fights inbetween - who would you suggest he fight to climb up the experience ladder? obv has to be someone durable, that can take him the rounds, with a good punch themselves so he can work on the chin and the counterpunching (im not saying guys he will definetly beat, but good enough fighters that when he does get the shot we wont hear a chorus of 'who has he fought'

Guzman? Potential loss. Holds a belt so a plus in terms of money, but is himself a good fighter.

Nicky Cook? Would probably jump at the chance given the blowout against SH, not truly world class tho.

Rocky Juarez, Alex Arthur, Carl Johanneson?
He could even fight Morales in the fight before Pacman.

All this assumes that Pacman fights and beats MAB, - if he hasnt fought him yet he will be waiting for MAB, and if he loses, Valero will be after MAB, surely?

Pacman/MAB's not happening anytime soon, if at all. Plenty of massive fights out there for Pac though. Valero and Guzman look likely, but I doubt either is genuinely in a hurry to face Pacquiao. I'd personally love to see Chris John move up at fight Pacquaio. I doubt anyone should rule out the possiblity of a move to lightweight either Pacquiao vs. Juan Diaz or Joel Casamayor would be pretty damn awesome. All those fights are more likely than MAB rematch.

Let's not forget, Mosquera was a class act and pretty tough - it's no small thing knocking Mosquera out. Many people felt he was going to give Valero a lesson.

im taking nothing away from mosquera whatsoever, just saying that valero needs more experience before he fights the likes of pacman or MAB

I agree. Valero has only fought one guy who has taken him past two rounds. He needs more experience in the trenches if he's going to survive against Pacquiao, so they should be looking to match him with someone who has a chin and can punch a bit. Personally I'd like to see Valero vs. Guzman, with the winner facing Pacquiao, but I doubt that that will happen. Other options would be St. Clair, Velasquez, Honmo, or even Bobby Pacquiao (which would really set up a fight with his brother.)

I agree with a few of the posts on here. Valero excites most people with the amount of power he possesses, but the Mosquera fight showed that he can be backed up, unfortunately for Mosquero he didn't shorten the gap enough to nullfy his power. I think he needs a few more fights. Guzman is another exciting fighter with excellent all round boxing skills and decent power. Both these fighters need breakthrough wins that establishes them as elite SFWs (not that I doubt that either is capable of attaining that status). I'd like to see one or t'other fight Barrera before facing off against Pacman.
