Buster Drayton in BN

Nice to see ex-pro Buster Drayton is doing well, article in last weeks Boxing News on him, he's a police officer , and seemed really happy with his life and career. Nice to see an ex champ doing well for himself, you only usually hear about the ones fallen on hard times.

I've got a few of his fights on tape, and he was one of those value for money pros, who always gave his all in his fights.

It was another another good piece written by Tris Dixon in BN, he hasn't just gone after the big star names from the past, and this adds greater interest to his articles.

No not got the Santos fight, Title ones i've got are Moore and Hilton, Hilton fight even though he lost was great, Hilton was going to be the next big thing, shame the way his life has panned out.

Yeah Hilton was very exciting to watch, I think he's a bit of a mess these days from what I've heard sadly... all his brothers seemed a bit screwed up as well, his older brother Davey was perhaps even more talented than Mathew but managed to waste most of his career away...
Quite a lot of parallels with the Ayala brothers...

I don't think Dixon is actually a good writer (sine Harry Mullan died and Mark Butcher was made to leave, genuine good writing is thin on the ground) but he does do well when it comes to getting interesting subjects.

MIxes up present and past fighters, andI like to read his stuff (though thought his article on I think it was Lenord Pierre or someone and 'how devastatingly hard he hit' just because he had a spar with him was a bit lame.)

I enjoyed reading his SPadafora article - Paul is an interesting character. Hope he climbs back up.

Would like Tris to go to Canada interview Mathew Hilton - he was one of my favourite 80s fighters, though now apparently a wreck. Doug de Witt I always liked as well.

PS RE journalism - did anyone else read the crap in the NOTW by some fat bastard called MArtin Samuel? APparently HEnry Cooper really deserved his OBE, due to the fact he beat Muhammad Ali in their first fight.......hmmmmm[/b]

the writing in that 'paper' is so poor I wouldnt use it as toilet paper persoanlly, the sad thing is that its at the level of much of its readership...

I'd forgotten the Kaylor ko was the same night as Bonecrusher-Bruno.

The Hilton brothers had it all, national heroes in Canada etc... Some self destruct mechanism they had fitted at birth...
