Britishboxing.net say Kevin Anderson will defend his Commonwealth title against Ali Nuumembe in February.

Kevin hasn't ducked anyone, taken part in meaningful contests and thrilled the fans in the process. I have nothing but admiration for this gritty box-fighter.

The word is he will also take Eamon Magee on next, should he get past Nuumembe


I seem to recall several posters claiming Anderson would look to duck Nuumembe. Well, that's egg on your face and mud on your shoes

Just can't see Magee happening Butch, but I've retired him once before and had egg on my face so I'll just shut up.

Respect has to be given to Kevin Anderson. That kind of competition is very refreshing. He seems a nice fella too unlike that other Scotsman..what his name again..liked a drink?

Anderson is going back to his old amatuer coach Rab Crockatt , so think he might be looking at working on his defence, as he seems to have lost some of his upper body movement as his pro career has progressed.

Glad to hear Ali is getting his shot too. Should be a good fight this one, Kevin will need to be focussed for this.

Ali is going to have to produce something special to beat Anderson - I certainly don't think he has the tools to stop him, but Anderson certainly has the tools to break Ali down.

Really good fight though, looking forward to it.

The Muttley fight was so tough for Anderson, he may not be able to come through another like that, he has to improve his movement and not just walk into punching range. makes for an easy target.

Nuumbembe was a last minute sub when he faced Olusegun, but even with this fact , no-one really expected Olusegun to take him apart so easily. So will be interesting to see if he can come back from it.
He will benefit from a long training camp this time, so will be alot more fit.

certainly a good match up, at the moment i'm just leaning towards Ali to pull off the win.

Big respect to Kevin Anderson...these so called prospects have had it so easy compared to this guy...very rarely do SN fighters take on someone in a 50-50 match up..

Bumped into kevin around 3 weeks ago, took the time to speak to me(very nice and easy going guy) said that it was defo Ali first then magee.. said he was relishing the challanges and wants Euro aswell, Had a chat about muttley fight ect and seemed a really nice genuine guy, wish him all best

I like his attitude too. Just wants to fight. In some ways, he's a kind of a throwback fighter, where they just wanted to get in there and put 'em up. Definately good for boxing me thinks.

Anderson will KO Ali.

He seems too open to counters for me to see that.

Got to remember this guy is still fairly young and has fought some very good fighters. Look at the so called SN prospects - good records against opponents who have very little ambition and who they've fought 2 or 3 times...their padded records don't fool me!

And did Anderson need his last fight which was an 8 rounder? There were Scots on here complaining about Glimour not getting him a better opponent.

I don't begruge Anderson a sharpening up bout, after such a tough match with Mutley....his fans seem very demanding....god knows what they'd be like if they were fans of some of the other prospects that are coming through.

The 8 rounder wouldn't have done Anderson any harm, i think his fans wouldn't have complained if Anderson had blown the guy away in a couple of rounds, where the fight went the distance and Anderson just looked like he was going through the motions , then the fans complained.
They can't expect Kevin to have blood and guts fights everytime he steps into the ring, or it will be a very short career.

As for getting to world class, weltereight has some of the best champions in Mayweather, Cotto, Margarito and Mosley.
Outside of that the top contenders are a moxed bunch of past champions in Judah, Collazo and Gatti. And up and comers in Paul Williams, Berto and the like.
So theres no reason that Anderson or Nuumembe can't get in the mix with the contenders, champions apart Welter isn't the depth of talent it was a couple of years ago.

Ando has the kind of attitude that real boxing fans like, exciting and great to watch Perfect attitude and confidence, he's destined for bigger things and is willing to prove it against good fighters. No padded out record for this scot, unlike so many of the other so called top ten fighters. Ali is a good wee fighter, and pretty quick, but Anderson is also quick and has the better power, boxing skill and brains. Anderson by KO, then he will school Magee. Top Man Ando
