Just finished Hattons book...

Was given to me as a Christmas present. Have to say I thought it was a better read than I expected, although was repetitive at times. For anybody who hasn't read it, the main things were:
1) He never mentioned Witter except when comparing opponents they had both fought.
2) He said he would definitely fight Mayweather before he retires.
3) He briefly mentions Cotto and that he'd move back to Welter to fight either him or Mayweather there, although I think it's safe to say that a fight with Cotto would never happen.
4) When fighting Collazo, HBO wanted it as a build up to a mega fight with either Mayweather or Gatti. Wasn't Gatti already finished by then?
5) He says he was pretty much forced into agreeing to a rematch with Collazo but stressed "if it can be agreed by all parties". In other words, he would be the party who ultimately would not agree to it.
6) I didn't really understand why he would never accept any rematches. He brushed them all off saying that he felt he did enough the first time.
7) I felt bad for Vince Philips when he got ripped off on his purse for their fight. He sounded desperate, even asking Hatton afterwards to help him.
8) He says he will definitely never fight for Warren again.
9) He says his purse for Tszyu was £1m, 10% of which goes to Billy Graham, and that he ends up with half that amount after tax and expenses. He then compared that to getting £1.9m for Maussa when he split from Warren, despite a smaller crowd of 12,000.
10) He does at some point mention wanting to win all the main belts so it's surprising that he does not appear to be interested in Witters WBC.
11) By the sounds of it, in future it seems he's just going to fight on one fight contracts with whomever offers the most money. I suppose he can't be blamed for that really as he's at the stage where a promotor doesn't need to do a lot in order to sell tickets for his shows (in the UK anyway).
12) He seems to accept that Tszyu is what he will be remembered for and I think his ambitions at this stage of his career are questionable. My feeling is that he'll continue with a few more of what he'd consider low risk fights and make some more money while he can command his biggest purses before hanging up the gloves.

Because Witter can beat him thats why.
Too much humility was used In the book to fill the pages, In my opinion. Otherwise It would of been a smaller book.

Ricky did well to get a million, considering that Tszyu had a career high purse rumoured to be several million. Tszyu was hardly going to come to manchester for peanuts, especially that late in his career.

exactly, £2.5m for Zoo, £1m for hatton - £3.5m
£200,000k for mausa - £1.9m hatton - £2.2m

200 K for Maussa while Hatton gets 1.9m! Thats low for Maussa defending his WBA at the time.

I'll bet its a lot more than he for fighting Harris, and Maussa knew he was lucky to have won that belt. His prospects for a massive payday were very limited. Having a belt doesn't mean a lot if you haven't got any following.

Still think he should of got a couple hundred K more.

Ask Hatton how much he has ACTUALLY recieved of his purses for Maussa and Collazo.
He hasnt had all the money

Either way, it's easier for Hatton to be paid more when his opponents are getting fekk all.
I'm sure Hatton earned more for some of his routine defences than he did against Tszyu. His fight with Tackie would have been a big earner as I'm pretty sure that was a PPV jobbie.

Witter would probably take for a unifaction with Hatton too

Exactly Hatton isn't been too fair, he was lucky to fight Tyszu at the time he did and was lucky to get the 25% he probably got. If he'd continued with Warren he'd have got around the same for a Maussa fight or even got Corrales and got more.

And Witter would beat him for it.
Hatton complains Warren wasn't paying him fairly, then pays the opponents less than he got with Warren!

You sure? I seem to remember paying PPV for hatton fights pre tszyu, and I would have thought that would have been one of them.

hatton-oliveira was the only hatton ppv and that was only the undercard to vitali-williams.
hatton-tackie was on sky sports 1 and they also had the hopkins-joppy card on later on SS1.

They had an agreement in place that if Gatti, beat Baldomir, he would fight Hatton. However, Gatti got shelled and Hatton was "gutted" according to Graham. I wonder how that would've been received seeing as Gatti is now considered shot well before he fought Mayweather.

the amount hatton was promised for the maussa and collazo fights allegedly had a good deal to do with the break up of hobson and waterman.. !!

Hatton was promised the money long before Hobson and Waterman split.
The shows are simply not generating enogh revenue to pay Ricky the contracted sums.
Hobson and Waterman have earned nothing from their association with Hatton.
They are not promoting him. Hobson is effectively employed by Hatton as an event manager.
They didnt get Ricky because they are great promoters. They got him because they were the only ones stupid enough to offer him such unrealistic and unattainable sums.

So what? Gatti is a COMMODITY and boxing is a BUSINESS and fighters WANT TO MAKE MONEY.
It happens all the time. If Gatti had won a main welter title who wouldn't want to be the first guy to chop him down, in Atlantic City?
After stopping Tszyu and earning high up status, what's wrong with cashing in?

If Gatti had beaten Baldomir, I would have been chuffed to see Hatton vs Gatti. Likewise I would have been chuffed if Hatton had fought Baldomir (ahead of Mayweather).
I wouldn't completely ridicule it if it happend this summer. Obviously would prefer JLC.
Gatti is still a name, and its still going to be a thrilling fight - even if now Hatton would be a big betting favourite.

How is watching Gatti been battered a thrilling fight, were Gattis fights with Baldomir/Mayweather thrilling? No they weren't really, Gatti is nothing more than a bvrain damaged punch bag now.

I'm sure he is better off finacially after leaving Warren, but surely in this case one follows on from the other. Surely he was only able to command that much for the Maussa fight because he had the win over Tszyu?

Because I'm starting to learn any possible Hatton opponent becomes better on paper than they actually are in the ring. Gatti was done in 2005.
