Witters Development

Witter may or maynot be out of his physical prime but in terms of experience he is still improving.
1. Against Judah he was a novice fighting cautiously and bagging a few rounds
2. 14 straight KOs - obviously learning to sit on his punches and getting leaverage against some Euro standard opposition
3. Ndou fight goes the distance, Witter throws the kitchen sink at Ndou for 4 rounds punches himself out goes defensive and pulls out the champoinship round against a top10 opponent. Good but flawed/inexperienced
4.Kotelnik - Witter does the same again, Kotelnik covers up and fights defensive, until Witter gasses after 6 rounds, Witter pulls out the 12th to win against a tricky opponent
5. Lynes - Witter trys to pace himself but looks less than impressive
6. Corley - Witter fights more Cautious, more paced, but quite defensively and without much pace. Witter wins pretty much all 12 rounds against another top10er.
7. Morua - the best stamina Witter has shown, attacking and winning 9rounds before finally landing the big shots to put his man away. THIS IS WITTERS FIRST LATE ROUND STOPPAGE. Probably only a top25 opponent but much more couldnt be asked.
So my point is Witter has improved his ability to pace himself, understands the 12 round distance better and is finally developing 12round fighting ability

I should watch Witter/Morua first before commenting on his improvement, but Morua was blatantly handpicked wasn't he.
If Witter can beat Harris/Lazcano winner then he deserves kudos.

There is a parallel between the two. Both 'lost' to Ban Rabah, in all truth.
Urango had a good draw with Arnaoutis, and a good win over Sorokin / Morua has same level wins over Maussa & Cosme Rivera.

Morua has been too inconsistent, too many losses to average fighters.
Pretty confident that Urango would beat him.

On paper Urango and Morua look as good but Urango is a different animal in the ring. I think Witter would easily outbox Urango. Wouldnt Moruas best win be over Augustus?

Forgot that one. But who knows, because Augustus has suffered a couple of robberies!

I think that Witter would have beaten Hatton if they had fought last night.
I wonder if Rick was carrying an injury or something? he was grabbing Urango at every opportunity afer 6th.

Sky reek of Hatton bias last last.
Witter's fight was better, I was surprised how average Hatton's fight was. He usually excites.

I know Hatton's fight may have not lived up to what we thought overall, but viewing wise between both Witters and Hattons fight, Hatton's was way better to watch.
To be honest, I thought Witters fight was terrible to watch and all his cry's for getting Hatton into a ring will never happen if he produces WBC title fights like that

Nah, I found Witter more entertaining last night. His heavy shots were exciting at times when Morua went on the ropes.
Hatton just boxed and held and surprisingly wasn't as exciting as usual.
It was man(Hatton) Vs Boy(Urango).

Each to their own mate, I agree when Witter did finish Morua off on the ropes he looked good, infact that was his saving of a real stinker of a fight. Overall I thought it was boring.
Hatton I thought fought well for the opening rounds, at least he took some risks in the fight at times and I think Urango is a lot better than what Morua is as a fighter.

Urango looked the same as Morua accept he didn't back away once hit. Both had basic guards just throwing basics.

Urango is a much stronger fighter than Morua, I think if those two were to fight Urango would beat Morua.

Moura fought like he had pooped his pants. My lasting impression of him from the first bell was how did Augustus lose to him.
I actually think Colin Lynes would have beaten him based on that showing. He did nothing and for me it was another dissapointing showing by Witter. Less so than the Lynes, Corely efforts but still bad. Poor work rate against a limited boxer who offered nothing.
Ricky Hatton would have made mince meat of Moura and stopped him inside 6 brutal rounds.

Well said stu
I think Witter has a lot to prove still, he may have that very nice WBC belt, but he has a lot to prove still. There are so many fighters that make the belts in Boxing, but the WBC belt is making Witter at the moment and he really needs to up his performances or I can see his reign being short when he meets a proper challenge.

Witter's better than Urango and Maussa thats for sure.
I missed Callazo out because Witter's never been at Welterweight.

Witter isn't getting better, only a blind man would suggest otherwise.
He is definitely slowing down, hence the continued decline in the pace of his fights - What he does well is use his ring craft to it's maximum potential.
He's slippery, and awkward and that will see him through against world class journeymen.

Yes Hatton stops everyone in 6brutal rounds even though he couldn't stop Vilches, Urango, Magee, Phillips, Tackie, Collazo
Morua isnt top 10 but he has decent wins and would give anyone a few problems, Witter trickyness and power made Morua negative and defensive
