Sanchez would have the advantage in speed & boxing skills, but Sanchez(like)Fenech, had an iron chin. While Fenech was the harder puncher,he wouldn't be able to hurt Sanchez, nor vice-versa.Good stamina, strong chins, and a fast pace, should make this an excellent fight. Both come forward with Fenech the aggressor,Sanchez, the aggressive counter-puncher.Non-stop action,Sanchez would win a(maybe very close?)decision.

This is a very great matchup.
It could go either way. The Fenech that fought a much experienced Azumah Nelson against the Sanchez that fought Nelson when Nelson was just 13 fights old could be a war leaning the victory to the Australian. He was a hell of a fighter that Fenech. Sanchez could win this fight too. I see Fenech defeating Salvador by decision because of the constant pressure he will give on him.

Power wise....I wouldn't say for ceratin that Fenech had the edge here....he was physically stronger...but shot for shot their power is probably close/same.
Fenech brought more pressure and threw more shots.....But Sanchez was more accurate, a better boxer and had the better jab....
Sanchez always seemd to find a way to win as well.....and he was only 23 with over 40 fights...including 9 or 10 title defenses......
This would be a very close fight......the edge or slight favorite would have to be the more polished Sanchez....but a close Dec victory for Fenech wouldn't shock me.....

Sanchez could handle constant pressure though, and his defense and of course counterpunching would be the difference. Sanchez by close but clear decision.

I think Salvador is too polished for Fenech, accurate and methodical. Fenech a little to sloppy. How bout McGuigan at his peak against either?

I think Fenech would be too strong and relentless for Mcguigan and Sanchez too fast and clever for him... good fights but Barry loses to both probably on points...

I'd pick Sanchez to have too much variety and skill for Fenech. As someone remarked on another thread about Sanchez, he always found that bit extra to win his fights (leaving aside his one defeat of course!)
I'd opt for him by late stoppage or decision with a three/four point margin.

Silkov, do you not think Barry's body punching and strength would be to much for Fenech OVER 15??. I agree that Sal too clever and would outpoin Barry. But Jeff is in your face, easier to hit and Barry loves that as he has super stamina and a wicked body atack

It would be a closer fight but I think Jeff would have been too strong for Mcguigan, having seen Fenech beat Villisana, Zaragoza and Callejas for instance, I just see him being too rough for Mcguigan... also Barry didnt like fighting on the back foot and Jeff would push him back for sure... close fight but Fenech just had that little bit extra in strength and durability imo...

Silk, those guys were not true feathers. Barry was a big feather, broad and very strong. True he was vulnerable on the backfoot, but you had to put him on the backfoot, very few could sustain this with him. He had KO power and I think would love a Fenech type fighter, who didn't care about defense. Barry would not even have to look for him

Villasana was a feather and one of the toughest around, and look how well Fenech did against Nelson in their first fight, Barry would need to try and out box Fenech, I dont see him beating him in a slugfest... and I think Jeff would just be too strong and throwing too many punches for Barry to cope with....
