He has stated in an interview on the Sports Network website that his biggest problem is motivation for this fight. He's not up for this like the Lacy fight. Could this be like Taylor - Ouma?? It could be a hard nights work like the Bika fight if he's not in the zone.

Says its his historic 20 defences that wont be matched.

20 defences of what? The historic WBO belt, that dates all the way back to... 1989. And all those countless great champions who held it- Tommy Hearns, Chris Eubank, Steve Collins, and then Joe Calzaghe!! Wow!

Its very unlikely to be matched because very few fighters have the Joe Calzaghe, Brian Nielsen et al train of thought of staying at home with an easy belt that allows you to fight whoever to adoring crowds and the TV stations in on the act. Most fighters have more balls and ambition.

Never a truer word.

Well, why doesn't he fight someone else then? You can't have it both ways.

Easy, big pay day against someone he should batter

or

Hard (though perhaps even bigger) pay day against someone who might beat him

Yes, what the feck is Calzaghe on about? Why is he fighting this guy then if he's so bloody demotivated by it.

I wouldn't have thought SN would be too pleased about his saying this, after all, they are trying to hype this fight up, and here's Calzaghe bemoaning his fate at having to fight such a ho-hum opponent.
