Khan's Route to a World Title

So Earl is fighting a WBO elim/interim against Katsidis. If Earl wins, he can wait till Freitas or Casamayor get stripped - someone always gets stripped, or vacated after a unification these days.

They'll wait it out until Earl gets that WBO strap, and give Khan an early route to the title, where he will have to be protected for a while.

Yeah, your more than likely right. I just can't see Khan trying to get a fight with the inform Jonathan Thaxton for the British Title happening this year, can you?

Definitely. Thaxton is shit hot right now domestically, and Romanov is a monster in Europe. No doubt they justify Earl for beating rusty Romanov.

Sad thing is, Earl looks on the way out, while Thaxton and Romanov are vastly more compelling. Then again, I'd hate to see Thaxton sign his life away to Warren, when we can all see him in top class fights on Sky; and I'd hate to see Romanov on the shelf after a sicknote pullout, LOL.

I agree, quite a big IF though.

well, there's always Mbaye. Maybe they can poison his water. Khan's weigh class is ambiguous; I always saw him as a light welter beating up super feathers, rather than an over the weight lightweight

Wow, everyone is making it sound like that these guys would have to have one hand tied behind their back for Khan to have any chance of winning. Who knows, maybe Khan has something in the trunk for bigger occasions.

Right now Khan vs Thaxton, Romanov and even Earl are fascinating fights. We know 2/3 of these won't happen. The 1 that will is the WBO SHORTCUT. Khan's development will be against European and Argie imports, cagey/crafty veterans to test his defence/accuracy without threat of too much coming back.

It will be effective but hard to watch at times, and since when did Warren ever make the obvious fights that ppl actually want to watch?

I think Khan will go the way of Hamed - first BIG fight, hes done for

enjoy it while it lasts.

i'm ain't convinced these plans will come off.

katsidis should win unless he's a total hype job.

maybe warren will put khan in with katsidis if he ain't impressed with what he see's?

khan will more likely go the wbu route for some time.

There are no certainties. But Warren wil most certainly bide his time for the right opportunist opening. Freitas and Casa are on the way out.

I almost want Earl to lose, I hate to say. Because he is pawn # 1 for Khan's backdoor route, more than likely.

I would just love it if Khan would have a crack at Thaxton and Romanov. Proper titles, proper way of doing things, and featuring two of my fave boxers.

Khans best route will be a 37 bus from Bolton to the MEN arena, especially if he gets banned for running that guy over. :TU:

I was asking for that one. Almost like that guy who asked "When will Hatton step up to the plate?"

If Limond and Khan fought early this year I would favoure Limond on points.

But I admit I am a big Limond fan and would love to see the fight happen soon. But I shall not hold my breath.

We won't hold you to that mate.

That guy Lirva didn't pay his bets so I think you should be able to get away with it.

I just read Khan saying he wants to win "British & European" titles this year.

Anyone see Khan-Thaxton and Khan-Romanov, seriously?

Khan might well want that - he wont get it under Fwank
