Masao Ohba

Fly Wt Champion Masao Ohba is another that is often underrated....somewhat because he died young (car accident...23 years old).

But at that young age was already Fly Champion with 5 defenses. He had two losses (on points) early in his career and then would never lose again.

Great jab, a type of cautious aggressivness while able to be slick at the same time....holds wins over Berkrerk Chartvanchai (KO 13)... Betulio Gonzalez via 15 UD...and a somewhat faded Chartchai Chionoi (Ko 12th)...

Yeah I like this guy, have a few of his fights and was very impressed, especially by his jab but also by his easy going attitude in interviews, ver smilely and seems like a good fellow, very sad that his life was cut so short... do you have any of his fights??... :box: :box: :box:

Great fighter.

His fight with Chionoi is an all-time classic.

Ohba waa a great little fighter.

Unfortunately my copy of his fight against Chionoi is terrible, but if someone is interested I have his fights against Orlando Amores and Betulio Gonzalez.

I often wonder how much Masao Ohba would have accomplished had he not died so young. What a great boxer he was. I have these fights and will be happy to trade with anyone for other Ohba fights:

Masao Ohba V Berkrerk Chartvanchai-WBA Flyweight Championship
Masao Ohba V Betulio Gonzalez-WBA Flyweight Championship
Masao Ohba V Chartchai Chionoi-WBA Flyweight Championship
Masao Ohba V Orlando Amores-WBA Flyweight Championship
Masao Ohba V Susumu Hanagata II-WBA Flyweight Championship

Thank you.

I have an excellent copy of the Ohba/Chionoi fight, and I have quite an extensive list of fights overall. If anyone would like to have a look at my list, feel free to pm me.
