Has anyone the lowdown on why the this fight was scheduled for 20 rounds instead of 15? By the 1940;s it was pretty rare for a 20 round fight,Max Baer went the 20 a few years before but Ive often wondered why this one was set for the 20.

The Bill Poland -vs- Eddie Blunt bout that took place on August 27, 1941 was the last fight ever to be scheduled for 20+ rounds, it was actually sceduled for 25, but Poland scored a knockout in four. That took place in Washington, DC.
I think a couple of the last bouts to actually go twenty rounds was Max Baer's 1931 fight with Paolino Uzcudun and his 1932 win against King Levinsky both of which took place in Reno, Nevada. I may be wrong, but I cannot recall any other fights after Baer-Levinksy that went the full 20 rounds.

Bobby Woods fought a scheduled 20 rounder with Henry Davis on June 11, 1954 in Boise, Idaho. Woods won by TKO in 15 rounds.
