This fight would take place directly after each man won the title.People say Hearns did have a chin,just weak legs,I think different.I've seen Hearns hurt and rattled often,and his stamina suspect.His pluses,extreme speed,power,and boxing skills.De la Hoya,while not as fast as Hearns,nor as hard a puncher,also has good boxing skills,an excellent body attack,and good speed,and very solid power.He also has a good chin,but Hearns has the type of power,that usually negates(especially at 147)good chins.Oscar has an excellent jab,but for the first time,would encounter an opponent,whose jab,is longer,faster,and harder than his own.Would Hearns come out smoking,like against Cuevas,and blow Oscar away?Could Oscar,endure,ride the storm,and carry Hearns into the middle rds,banging his body,and getting close enough to batter & stop him?If Hearns decides to box,(it's been said,nobody has ever outboxed Hearns),could he maintain the pace,and shut out De LA Hoya?I think if Hearns comes out bombing,unless he just flat catches him,I think Oscar is better skilled than Cuevas,and his fast hands,and long arms,would maybe catch Hearns,and take him out.But if Hearns boxes,avoids the exchanges,stays outside using his jab and reach,he could win a unanimous dec.OR possibly set Oscar up for a late t.k.o.Hearns wins.

I think Hearns drops DeLaHoya inside the first 3 rounds, and forces him into a defensive posture up until he finishes him off around the 11th.

Sorry but the "Motor City Cobra" is just too big, too tall for Oscar. Hearns wins via TKO in about 6-7 rounds.

Hearns easy UD 15.

Hearns by UD most likely I just can't picture a fighter like DLH get KO"d he has the heart of a lion.. Dlh will probaly try to counter Hearns jab like he did vs Quartey by the 4th round he would change his tactics and fight more aggressive but in the end Hearns 8-3-1 Type of fight..

I already said that I picked Hearns.Nothing against Oscar,but during this stage of his career,Hearns was AWESOME!,and hard to pick against.I just figured I'd toss in a couple of possible(but unlikely) scenarios,

Hearns by UD, or late stoppage. Much more movement that DLH, and would outjab him before loading up from middle rounds onwards.

It was a liver shot....I'm not going to defend DLH here in terms of Tommy Hearns but no one gets up from a well place liver shot that has enough torque in it. The trick is to avoid them. But your overall point is still valid.

Hearns by savage KO, this doesnt go 6 rounds. I agree the ODH wouldnt sign for this fight, too much of a health hazard

Don't forget that Hearns could go to the body very effectively, as well - the danger was that he sometimes left himself open afterward, admiring his handiwork - watch the Barkley fights. But I don't think DLH is nearly a big enough puncher to hurt Hearns in posing mode.

Hearns by stoppage, anywhere from very early (as with Duran) or late, by way of accumulated punishment. Too much for a naturally smaller guy like DLH.

Oscar is not a true Welter and Hearns would not have to worry about his strength or punch the way he did V Leoanard. Tommy handled Ray for 12-13 rds before being beat. I think Oscar suffers a bad bad beating in this match
