Sugar Ray Robinson vs Floyd Mayweather at 135lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roberto Duran at 135lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Julio Cesar Chavez at 135lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Pernell Whitaker at 135lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Thomas Hearns at 147lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Sugar Ray Leonard at 147lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Marvin Hagler at 160lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Bernard Hopkins at 160lbs
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roy Jones at 168lbs

Robinson is known as probably the best pound for pound of all time. How would he do against all these former best pound for pounders at their best weight in their prime?

Good thread.
At 135 I think SRR loses close decisions to Mayweather and Duran, and possibly Whitaker, while I could see a fight with Chavez going either way. If SRR boxes he wins, if he stands and trades with JCC he loses.

At 147 he takes some wicked shots from Hearns and maybe even get's dropped, but he rallies to stop the Hitman late. Against Leonard, I think SRR wins a close decision, then loses a close decision in the rematch.

At 160 I think Hagler wins it in the championship rounds. But SRR takes a close but clear decision against BH.

At 168. I think RJJ would have the speed advantage and would win a close decision over 12. Over 15, it might get very interesting.

Thing with this match-up is Robinson never weighed close to 168lb for a big fight, even when he fought for the LHW title he came in under 160lb. Also the "168lb" Jones would have actually weighed a lot more than that due to boiling down. While I consider Robinson a much greater fighter than Jones he would be outweighed by at least 15lb+ in this fight.

Yeah, if anything it should be 160lb Jones vs. Robinson.

Yeah, if anything it should be 160lb Jones vs. Robinson.
But Robinson can just come in the fight at 161lbs if he can't make 168.

Whatever...

Sugar Ray Robinson vs Floyd Mayweather at 135lbs: Ray Robinson would win a decision or KO here with his superior power.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roberto Duran at 135lbs: Robinson by close decision as he outlands Duran with his handspeed.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Julio Cesar Chavez at 135lbs: This fight could easily go either way to me but I think Robinson wouldn't be able to stay away well enough and would lose a very close decision to Chavez.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Pernell Whitaker at 135lbs: Robinson would KO Whitaker I think.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Thomas Hearns at 147lbs: Robinson would struggle at first but KO Hearns by the middle rounds as his speed and power overwhelms him.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Sugar Ray Leonard at 147lbs: Leonard is another fight that could go either way but I's lean toward SRR winning a SD or MD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Marvin Hagler at 160lbs: SRR takes a close decision victory with his superior skill and speed.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Bernard Hopkins at 160lbs: Similar to Hagler in scoring, but a more tactical fight.
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roy Jones at 168lbs: I think 168 would just be too big for SRR against such a top flight opponent like Jones and I think Jones would use his combo of great speed, power, and athleticism to beat SRR in a close decision.

Robinson weighed under 135lb limit only in his 1st year as a pro, he simply didn't have enough experience at that point to beat Mayweather, Duran, Chavez or Whitaker.

Robinson vs Mayweoather at any wweight: Robinson by KO
Robinson vs Duran at 135, Duran wins, at 147 and above, Robinson by decision
Robinson vs Chavez at 135, Chavez wins...He would be much stronger at the end

Sugar Ray Robinson vs Whitaker at 135, Whitaker wins, at 147, is a toss up.

Sugar Ray Robinson vs Hearns at 147, Robinson by late KO
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Leonard at 147, is a toss up, at 160, Robinson would beat him by late TKO or UD

Robinson vs Hagler at 160...Hagler. Robinson was not as good at 160 like Marvin or Carlos Monzon were.

Robinson vs Hopkins...Robinson by decision. Maybe Hops could win this one too.

Robinson vs Jones Jr at 168...Jones by decision...At 160, Robinson wins by decision in a boring fight.

Robinson would of been Lightweight champion if Sammy Angott wasn't scared of putting his title on the line. So basically he beat the lightweight champion twice.

You equate Angott with those 4 fighters?

No but I'm saying that if Angott would of defended his title maybe Robinson would of been in the lightweight division longer. Angott ain't bad tho he did beat an undefeated willie pep.

Seeing how "often" Robinson defended his welterweight crown, I think it was for the better than he didn't win the lightweight title.

..robinson would outbox leonard while thinking about his next cadillac and win a decision...but if leonard..who did have a good punch would clip robinson with a solid one robinson would knock him out.

Sugar Ray Robinson vs Floyd Mayweather at 135lbs Mayweather UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roberto Duran at 135lbs Duran UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Julio Cesar Chavez at 135lbs Chavez UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Pernell Whitaker at 135lbs Whitaker UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Thomas Hearns at 147lbs Robinson TKO12
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Sugar Ray Leonard at 147lbs Robinson UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Marvin Hagler at 160lbs Robinson UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Bernard Hopkins at 160lbs Robsinson UD
Sugar Ray Robinson vs Roy Jones at 168lbs Jones UD

Jones is a little too big and strong, and takes a close decision.
Robinson was too inexperienced at 135lb, and would lose decisions to any of the mentioned fighters. However, he clearly beat the middleweight bunch.
