TKO1 for Francis. WOW :o

Anyone at the fight? Massive result for Francis. He's made decent progress since his comeback, and I'm sure he's better for being at 175 now.

Nice one Francis! Class act and the move to 175 was the right one.

It might be too early... but Francis vs Woods is a fight I have wanted to see for years.

Who knows, could happen if Woods loses his IBF title. Then again, Woods did say he'd never go back down to EBU or domestic level but you never know.

I was at the fight on a ringside table with Ovill's sponsors. Not the happiest place to be last night.

Ovill came out tentatively and stood on the outside like he wanted to counterpunch which was obviously the wrong tactic. I thought he would swarm Francis. I don't think i've seen him since he narrowly lost to Barney with one arm but i knew he had power and good skills. So fitness, age and injury worries were the disadvantages that Ovill had to make count.

Dean landed a long left hook which dropped Ovill heavily he made it but he was gone, Dean swarmed and the ref stopped it as Ovill went down again.

The show was pretty crappy in how the event was put together but also because of the snow the other boxers couldn't make it apparently so there was only one bout which was over in 1 min 40 i believe. So don't expect to see this on Channel 5. They were selling dvds for £10 straight afterwards but i declined to by one.

Good call. If Woods fails to net the faided Jones or Tarver, or Calzaghe of course, why not.

Francis is now Commonwealth Champ, tho, so surely its concievable that he would reach up to woods?

Is no one concerned that his shoulder might go again? McMillian was never the same after a dislocation and Francis has had more than one.

I know Danny Williams ovbercame the problem but I would be surprised if Francis is clear of problems..

delighted for deano and hopefully this can get him back on track domesticaly first of all, as a fit dean francis before his injuries would have been the 2nd best supermiddlewieght out there behind calzaghe.

im sure he would of had the measure of the likes of catley woods and reid who held world titles but unfortunately now he will never be able to throw the right hand with any authority and therefore a good fighter will be aware of this and capatilise, though i would be delighted to be proved wrong

I think it's just a matter of time to be honest. I really hope Francis is over it but it may be another false dawn, how many times have we heard he is "cured" only for it to pop out again? Danny Williams recovered from his and so did Carl Thompson after dislocating against Ralf Rocchigiani so there is hope for Dean Francis, good luck to him.

He seems to fight favouring his left hand - judging by his efforts in his fight before this one.

He was always predominantly left handed but he does fight worried about it.

Its gone 3 times already, so I would think its a matter of time - but he has the power to take them out (as shown) before it goes. He also beat (in most peoples view) a good boxer in Barney with one hand.

Calzaghe did him as an amateur and unfortunately for Dean he never got to prove he could have made a better pro. For that reason JC is the better fighter for me.

Francis is what could have been. Calzaghe went out there and did it (to some extent..)

Wow.

That was a devastating stoppage against a dangerous, improving foe.

It speaks volumes for his ability and one time potential that he can continue to win and win well despite boxing virtually one handed!

can't disagree too much with that. But seeing Francis' razor sharp skills, clean classical style, beautiful jab and venomous left hook again, it's always tempting to wonder what he could've gone on to do.

I see hints of Francis in David Haye. A certain charisma, cockiness, well rounded, with always the question mark about chin and stamina somewhere in the background.

Dean could certainly have been the most exciting super middle of his generation.

Wow. Cracking shot to drop Ovill.

Really struggling to view it, was it the same with you? All the other ones work well (his interview and other fights) but the McKenzie one is all jumpy with no sound.

Fine for me. Colour was a bit patchy but other than that fine!

I normally have trouble with this kind of thing but these all work good for me. The older one - vs Eastwood - isn't as sharp or as big as the others.

Francis' left hook lead is brilliant - what a shot on Ovill. Check out the Rasani fight - he does practically the same thing (their 2nd fight is online).

Tried again, similar problems. Weird - all the others work fine.

This just typifies the "confidence" I have with internet streaming.

Still they have got it on DVD for sale.

Keep trying mate. Didn't work for me at all at first.

I rate Dean Francis incredibly highly and was lucky enough to see some of his sparring sessions with Glen Catley at the Empire in Bristol, but it's important to retain perspective when it comes to Calzaghe comparisons. Not only did Joe wipe him out in the amateurs, people also forget that Dean had tough, gruelling fights with the likes of Mark Baker - and that was pre-injury. His best win was the stoppage over Starie, and I certainly think he would have had a chance at claiming a version of the world title, but he wasn't in Joe's league.

It must also be noted that Joe was 2 years older than Dean at an age when that is a significant difference. It wasn't a 26 and 28 year old going at it. I think they were 17 and 19.
