I've heard of him,and seen his very good record, although most of his opponents are either not known,or of the losing variety, however he did beat a couple of good fighters(past their prime?).I don't know of anyone who has seen him fight.Any help/comments?

He was a tough, straight-ahead fighter who benefitted from the matching-making of the WBO. Very good determination, good conditioning, decent power, good chin. Arguably the second to fifth best light heavyweight since 1990. He had a long winning streak, but as you stated, it was done so against hand-picked opposition that had little chance going into the fight, which had he constantly fought top ten opposition then most likely he would have lost a lot earlier in his career. He was an A- level fighter who beat-up on C and D level opponents racking up one of the better look records, in numbers, of the past 30 years. Overall though, DM had a fairly exciting style and he was a pretty fun fighter to watch.

What always struck me about DM was he never slipped or ducked any punches, he always used to parry or block.
