Boom Boom lacked defense,but made up for it with HEART,conditioning,strength,& desire.He was a very good puncher,especially to the body.Sometimes he would struggle when he shouldn't have,like with unknowns Duk Koo KIm,and Orlando ROmero,before stopping them.He was twice beat up by Branble,but the second time ,he did fare better.He rose to the occasion against Arguello,and although lost,he gave a very good effort for a young fighter against a legendary destroyer.He scored an almost shutout over the man who k.o.ed Rosario,and (in many people's minds,beat Arguello)Jose Luis Rameriz.Rosario in turn crushed Bramble in 2 rds,,won a close decision over Rameriz,before getting ko'd in the rematch,and both he and Mancini lost to Camacho by decisions.Although Rosario had crushing power,he was consistently inconsistent.He was being outboxed by feather fisted Howard Davis,before GOD allowed him a last second knockdown to secure the decision.He was a failed prodigy,who started out with such high hopes for him,only never to realize that potential.While Mancini wasn't the most naturally skilled fighter,he was consistently persistent.They were very close in size,but while I think Rosario had the big edge in pure power,Mancini was much stronger.I think Mancini would dominate this fight,and unless Rosario cuts him,Mancini would take a big decision,or even a stoppage is not out of the question.While Rosario has the power to hurt him,Mancini would recover,and roar back,like a warrior.Mancini wins

Mancini was peobably at his best against Arguello, simular fighter to Barry Mcguigan in that his paek was very short and he had wars with fairly mediocre fighters... Rosairo was a much better all round boxer and would most likely have cut up and outboxed Mancini and won by a late stoppage after about 11 or 12 rounds...

Rosario by kO inside of 7 rounds. Mancini's heart would not help him in this fight. Rosario too much power for Mancini. Rosario hits harder than Arguello in my opinion.

They don't even belong in the same ring together.....Rosario wins via mid round KO. Mancini was so over rated and under talented. He was a media darling, nothing more.

Try watching his fights with Arguello and Ramairez (who gave Roasiro some of his toughest moments) and his second fight with Bramble... the guy could fight, give him some credit...

I did see them, when they occured. Bramble beat the snot out of him......

Edwin has all the cards in this one....Mancini would probably be able to tough it out to the end, but I don't see how he can win this one.

The lightweight division was up for grabs back then. Everyone was beating everyone. Just go back and look at some of the matchups. Anytime two lightweights stepped in the ring you never knew what would happen. Everytime you thought you had it figured out something would happen to shake up the division. This would be a very even matchup and could go either way.

Are you saying tha Mancini was a slick boxer with no power? How can you compare Anthony jones to Mancini? Two totally different styles.

Are you saying tha Mancini was a slick boxer with no power? How can you compare Anthony jones to Mancini? Two totally different styles.

Did you see me say that?They are as different as night and day,2 COMPLETELY different styles BUT Mancini was world class,while Jones was a very good boxer and good amateur,he was not Mancini's caliber.THAT was my point,Rosario proved to be inconsistent against ALL kinds of styles,fighters.

A focused Chapo Rosario chops up a game Mancini and sends him sprawling down the canvas several times before the ref takes mercy on Boom Boom. 3-4 rounds.
