Ali beats Anderson on a split! And live bettin won me a tasty sum! I like anderson he fights with his heart on his sleeve but always felt he was a bit one dimensional and cudn't really step upthe pace when he needed to. Havin said that a hard left hook underneath in the ninth seemed to take the wind from him and it was downhill from that point for kevo. Good fight tho! Rematch anyone?

How about numembe v muttley.

Happy that Ali won...but I had Anderson winning it by 2rnds.

What a sportsman Anderson is to have taken the verdict so well...you could see he too thought he`d nicked it by a couple rnds.

Anderson is young enough to take lots of positives from this...and come back stronger :x

Mutts down at welter.
I'd imagine Ando will want a rematch, if not then Ali magee is the natural next fight, I suppoe. Although Ando agee is still feasible.

Mutley is said to be at Lt-Welter now..

And Magee is on for Anderson for the British.

They mentioned they wanted the lesser haired Hatton. :D

Great 2 way action fight and very close with Anderson taking the early session and Ali the late. I thought Anderson was going to take him out after the early going. Ali was maybe fitter but seemed to want it more at the end and living in a caravan for 4months who can blame him?

ali put it all on the line, both fighters dug in but ali seemed to have that little extra fire in his belly, wicked body shot in 8th or 9th round turned it in his favour, frustrated me that he did not hardly go for the body again after that ,but was the bussier and stronger in the final rounds, both men deserve huge credit.mathew hatton mentioned after as next opponent for ali, would be a massive fight in that part of manchester ,anderson can come back from that but it makes u wonder if the mutley fight took a bit out of him :TU:

Terrific fight. I had Anderson winning, but only just. I can't argue with Nuumbembe getting the verdict, because that really could have gone either way. That said, I'm delighted for Ali, because he has such a great story to his whole life.

Credit to both guys. Let's see a rematch when they've both recovered. I hope Chado is reading, and I hope this has made your investment in Ali worthwhile, although I'm sure it had already. :TU:

i'm just back from the fight and i'm totally disgusted with the decision. ando clearly took 6 of the first 7 and the last (possibly also the 11th). ali by 4 rounds is just nonsense and stinks of recent dave parris in daws v morrison. utter shitey joke decision, fed up with this pish in boxing.

It could've gone either way. Anderson didn't win 6 of the first seven. If you give Numbembe 2 or 3 of the first 7 and account for his strong finish, there is the impression that he just deserved it.

Numbembe by 4 was very shady. It should've been more more than 1 or 2 either way.

sorry pm but no way can you give Anderson the 11th. Great fight which neither fighter should have won by more than a couple of points. felt Anderson had nicked it but no way can you cry robbery

It was a close one, but I thought Ali won - He was sharp, quick, and generally fired back whenever Anderson landed.

There where a lot of rounds that where difficult to score, and I guess those are the ones where the split is going to be.

i had ali winning the last 5.... the first 7 were predominantly andersons but im sure ali could have nicked a couple of them, and that how ali ended up taking the decision.......

boxing scoring really is that easy !!

thats the fellow. I thought it was premature, he was not in trouble IMO, I think the low ducking wound the ref up tbh and he used that especially low one to call the fight

Im not so sure it was sportsmanship.

I genuinely think Anderson was just glad to hear the final bell - I dont think he was capable of going around the ring protesting the decision, he didnt really have anything left at the end. From Round 8 when Anderson got hurt with the body shot, Ali Nuumbembe almost unrelentingly used Anderson as a punch-bag. Ali really stepped up the pace in the last third and Anderson was found wanting a wee bit.

If Ali had concentrated more on hooking to Anderson's body, I think Ali could have forced a stoppage. Late on Anderson was visibly hurt to the body on more than one occassion.

Good close fight, and I wouldn't have argued with either man wining. Cries of robbery are unfounded, it was just a fight that could have gone either way, just like Anderson-Okine.
You're right about John Foser though, way off the mark with his scorecard.

Had Kev been 29 or 30 then I'd be asking questions about his career but a close points loss in a fight that could have gone either way is certainly no tragedy for the Fife youngster and im looking forward to seeing how this loss benefits him in the future.

It seems that a lot of british fans believe a loss on the record constitutes the end of a career but I believe its the opposite (especially in a fight so close)

All credit to Ali but most people already knew he was a tough opponent and to be fair, alot of other fighters would have given up the commonwealth title and pursued the british/euro path rather than take such a risk.

I do believe Ali's last defeat was more to do with under preperation than Olegsun's talent.

Kev is still British champ and has therefore still got something to bargain with because I get the feeling he is the kind of fighter who would be avoided like the plague if he had no belts to offer.

exellent fight and will probaly turn out to be one of the best fights of 2007 i had numbembe just shading it but wouldnt of argued with any decision given. the thing that impressed me most about the fight was the sportsmanship of both fighters and i wish them both luck in whatever there next plans are going to be. :TU:

I thought Ali won it by a round, but I was a little dissapointed in him in that it actually went on points.

Why oh Why oh Why did he Head hunt after he landed that peach of a body shot that doubled Anderson up. His corner were screaming after the "body" - you could hear them. Ali though Headhunted like F after. One big body shot would have floored and probably KO'd Anderson. He could take the headshots all day.

I'm an Anderson fan because he's not been built up on knockover jobs like some of the boxers around at the moment, but I felt that Nuumbebe just about deserved it.

Anderson can bounce back, and I really hope he does.

A sharp, focused and fit Eamonn Magee may just be a little to ringwise for Ando.

Ando deserves another rest.

This was hardly a Dazzo Williams-John Simpson or an Earl-Vanzie decision. Very close. I don't think either man has a lot of longevity in them. Olusegun's the man to beat.

Numbembe-Hatton does sound interesting.

I agree on all accounts. I actually would just favour Matthew at the moment - just.

Perhaps I overated Anderson based on the Okine win. I didn't think much of Okine vs Barnes so maybe I shouldn't have been so confident in his abilities - cause I was never overly impressed before that and it was a close fight vs Okine.

I'm sure he'll come back though and he does do some nice things and can put his punches together well. However, I think (as Jim Watt stated) that he didn't seem to act like a winner before the decision so maybe he knew it was close (hence his excellently mature attitude after the fight).

If Eamonn Magee is anything like his old self, he'd beat Nuumbembe for sure. Don't think Ali has the power/speed to worry Magee.

Difficult to pick a clear winner although I thought Anderson had it by 1 or possibly 2 rnds - I would have been happy to see it made a draw - My real beef was Dave Parrishs dodgy scorecard 116 - 112, how did he see it with such a wide margin - This is yet another example of his strange scoring - He is a very experianced ref and therefore should be a good judge - The other Judges you couldnt argue with.
