Hagler was sharp as a tack in that fight, very hard to nail with a clean shot, very fast hands too.

He was so much slower than that by the time Leonard got him.

While we are talking Tommy Morrison. He should probably remind himself of what is waiting for him out there.

Perhaps the most brutal beat down ever and the shoddiest performance by an official

I've just posted Monzon/Griffith II and Gomez/Sanchez over on the current scene's youtube thread. Both are well worth a look if you haven't seen them recently or haven't seen them at all.

Think Jersey Joe Walcott's performance in Ali vs Liston II was the worst.

Morrison hurt Mercer in the third he could certainly whack... shame he couldn't take a decent punch.

Here's one I was watching last night

Perhaps one of the best performances by a boxer that I can recall

Chavez Vs Rosario

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ct5NqExbEQA

Show it to any kid who denies that boxing was better the in the old days and watch their slack jaws drop as one of the greatest fighters in history totally dominates one of the toughest of his time

And, since there is a DLH/PBF thread, is a little tribute video to DLH

The one thing that I am reminded when watching him is how cold and clinical he can be in the ring

Please don't try and use this as back up to your argument, amateur boxing results mean little, Henry Tillman beat Tyson in the olympic trials, as did Tyrell Biggs.

On the matter of Holyfield although I rate him a top 10 heavy of all time

I rate him the finest cruiser ever and unlikely to be bettered

The Mike Douglass Show was pure magic, watched quite a few on tape some time back.

Interestingly, before they went on that Show, Ali asked Wepner behind the scenes to come on the show and call him a person, to hype up the fight. Chuck, who told Ali he had a lot of black friends, said he couldn't possibly do it, so Ali said he was going to tell the interviewer he said it anyway. You can see that Ali thinks about saying it, and then uses the word Negro instead.

You can see a wry smile on Ali's face all the way through the interview, as he pretends to dislike Wepner.
