Contact your local ABA and find one that does a kiddies evening, although the youngest we had in our gym was around 8...

Is walsend in northumberland, if so there is a boxing club there.

I hope youre kid gets into the boxing scene, i remember when i was young and had a set of gloves and sparred at home with my dad, iloved it. thats as far as it went. He never bothered taking me to a gym or boys club. I tried to have a go myself when i was 18, i never had any amateur fights or any training but really wanted to get into boxing. I turned my back and always regretted it. I may not have been any good, who knows. if youre lad has any chance its up to you, get him to a boys club and if its in his system, the best of luck.

My son is 18 and in the army, he has joined the boxing team, and was never interested as a kid, he might never be any good, but its discapline he will learn and fitness. at least he is having a go.

back to me... im nearly 40 now and as Rocky Balboa said, 'I have things in the basement'

Best of luck i hope youre lad gets his chance at his early age, lets face it thats when you need to start.

Mimmy-There has been hundreds of fighters who never laced on the gloves until their early to mid twenties that became top pro's.
If you still have things in the basement mate, get yourself down your local club! A relation of mine did'nt start down our gym until his mid thirties,he now trains 5 days a week and helps out with the juniors!
He can't get enough,he spars anyone down there and thoroughly enjoys it.

Even at your age, there is white collar boxing, and although I don't know much about it,your age would'nt prevent you from having a go.
