Sprott's "light" punch

OK, so a lot of people are very happy that Audley has been KO'd, but WHAT are the people saying it wasn't a big shot talking about?? Have they been LITERALLY blinded by their hatred for Harrison? How else can you watch that punch and claim it wasn't powerful?
So Sprott had a sub-50% KO ratio and statistically, that does make an early KO loss to him look bad. But the individual punch was an absolute corker. I've seen lighter trajectories from fast bowlers.
Harrison made several mistakes that allowed Sprott to get in the position to score the KO, and we can fairly criticise him for that, but we can hardly criticise his chin when that was among the hardest single punches you're likely to see. Audley can be criticised for a) letting Sprott back into the fight after having him down, b) boxing too cautiously again, c) having an open defence, but surely not for his inability to take that particular shot.
People with bad chins go over while conscious, but the standard of chin has nothing to do with it when you're rendered unconscious. Are we to criticise Harrison for having a central nervous system?

I'm not saying it was a bad punch, it was a pretty good punch, but I've seen fighters stay on their feet from heavier shots, the punch is being built up in the media as if it was impossible for anyone to have survived Sprott's almighty nuclear bomb of a shot.

On I slight sidenote I have always noticed Harrison has a habit of punching with his mouth hanging open particularly when jabbing, which is obviously a no-no.
If you watch the sprott punch land from the different angles you can see Audley is about to throw a punch and his mouth is hanging wide open when the shot lands on his chin OUCH! Great shot though.

I agree with James.
I'm not physiologist or a medical doctor - but I know certain fighters go unconscious far more easily than others.
Herbie Hide for example, everytime he has been KO'd he has been out of it - he has been uncounscious... does that mean his chin is okay because he has a CNS? Klitchsko hit him with a nothing shot and he was out of it leg twitching scarily - certainly everybit as bad as Audley.
Going down when its your own free will (i.e. conscious) is not necessarily due to a bad chin but problems with the ticker (or maybe balance problems if hit in the temple). Getting sparked uncounscious everytime you get hit clean (as Herbie Hide seemed do) thats a bad chin. Felix Trinidad went down serveral times in his career does he have a bad chin.... No.
Fact is twice Harrison has been hit flush by a domestic class fight and twice he has fallen (once perminantly). Light punchers like Ellis hurt him also.
I used to play Rugby with a guy who had to retire cause despite being a good player who be knocked out cold practically in every game after getting tackled. Now, I wouldn't have liked to have seen him in the ring.

again, its useful to actually see these fighters fight in order to get the full picture.....
sprott has few Ko's but if ud seen his icing Of Kenna ud know that he can take anyone out that he hits.....
Brian Minto is very similar.... dsnt have a huge Ko ratio but check out the left that took out maddalone (nobody takes vinnie out with one punch)

What fans don't understand is getting ko'd by a shot is often not about how good your chin is its about how you position your chin. If you have your chin tucked solidly into your chest yo ucan be virtually un knockoutable, lift your chin up in the air so its unsupported and relatively unpowerful punchers would KO the same chin.
Don't believe me? Test it:
Test of the day: push your chin into your chest. Now punch yourself in the jaw. Lift your chin up loosen your neck and punch just as hard so the punch fires upwards just landing under the jaw and tell me what hurts most.
Now also notice how the fighters with the so called best chins took their chin - ie Tyson, Tua and look how Earl tucked up nicely on Saturday. Also look at what happened to Ali when he left his chin up in the air against Cooper and how he proceeded to take some of the hardest shots ever from Shavers/Foreman etc.
Audleys chin was up in the air, as was Lennoxs on the 2 occasions he got ko'd. Lennox had a very good chin taking solid shots from Vitali, Holyfield, Tyson, Bruno, Mercer etc. Its just twice in his career he lost concentration and left his chin hanging out in the air
