Good to see the boxing community band together to help one in need. I always felt that sanctioning bodies should make an effort to provide.

I wanted to ask, how much was raised for him? Why were Roy Jones and James Toney absent - they were supposed to be going.

Someone reported esle where in the forum that 200k was raised.

Wait for Lueshing to take his whack....20% I've heard. Disgraceful.

I think they announced on the night that £180k had been raised. Was sure they said approx $350k.

He is taking a cut. He even had the audasity to tell McClellan's family too. Kevin Lueshing is a spiv. It's no secret he took 10% of the proceeds and

Have to admit that BC is not usually too far wrong with these types of things. It wouldn't surprise me if Kevin was taking a cut for himself - after all he's doing a job so why wouldn't he receive something if organising dinner events etc. like this is his career now. I'm sure the Grovenor hotel also managed to take a cut on the drinks that they sold, I don't see what the problem is with it, as long as it's not excessive.

As long Lueshing is taking just that small percentage and was up front about it then not a problem.

It is like when there are Charity football matches for UNICEF and games like the EU 50th anniversary match at Old Trafford for charity this month. There is a promoter who gets paid for putting it together for UEFA.

If he is taking 10% then it is a lot less than big charities like Save The Children etc take from donations to pay wages and cover costs for swanky offices believe me.

Yes, quite true, all charities spend a large proportion of their income on paying off directors and other staff, so what's the big deal.

No doubt it took up a lot of Kevin's time and energy to put this event together, without him, McClellan wouldn't have been receiving a penny, and given that they raised double the amount they initially anticipated, I think the 20% or whatever it is, is money well spent.

I guess that'd be around 2K for Kevin then - no doubt he had expenses like the hiring of the venue and staff involved(?) plus the ad in box news - not sure they'd have given that FOC - with a discount maybe.

A lot of boxing people you'd have expected to be there didn't turn up though.

Errr... maths isn't you're strong suit is it. If it was 10% it's 20,000, if it was 20% it's 40,000......they raised 200,000 I believe?

He should'nt have took a penny period. He was doing it in is own words to
get "McClellan some money" and "For Nigel".

Someone once toild me that he tried to charge £5k to get Nigel Benn to attend the Watson do and another £5k for Eubank, hence Benn not going and Eubank trying to whack him at the event when he found out

He is a modern day Private Walker in my opinion. And what's worse an ex-fighter too who should know better. Mind you he fed off Roger Levitt for long enough so must have learnt a thing or two ALLEGEDLY OF COURSE!

Well if he charges for Benn interviews, I am sure the money goes to Nigel, minus his cut.

I remember I wanted to write an article on the work that Michael Watson
did for the Brain and Spine foundation, to coincide with the release of Watson's book, and give them a free bit of advertising, I wasn't getting paid for the piece which I made clear at the time.

They said that unless I paid them for Michael's time, they weren't interested, so I told them to take a running jump, me pay THEM, to advertise their cause when I'm not even trying to make any money out of it. Seemed like they had a bizzare idea of how the whole business worked to me.

Had I been writing a piece on Watson which I was trying to sell on, and they'd asked me for some sort of donation to the charity, that would have been one thing (not that you're going to get anything much for the piece unless you get it into a national newspaper), but asking me to pay for the priviledge of advertising the work Watson did for the charity, no thanks!

I have to say, that trying to charge for Benn and Eubank to attend the Watson do, when I have a good idea they would have done it for nowt, does smell a bit iffy.

When Eubank heard from warren that Lueshing ask for £5k he went mental and fronted him up and had to be calmed down. Eubank was furious that people might think he was trying to make money from what was a personal tragedy for him and Michael. It was only others that saved Lueshing that night.
