There doesn't seem to be much said on here about this fight but I'm well pissed off that Sky are not showing this.

I was desperate to see this fight but nay all we get is Gammer and Williams, feckin brilliant!!!!

Looks like a great fight. I was raving about Vazquez v Jhonny Gonzalez, that it was going to be the best fight on that bumper GBP bill with MAB-Juarez 2 and Guzman-Barrios. I was right as well. 4 knockdown war it turned out.

But this seems even better. Because we have the universally recognized super bantam king vs the number 1 bantam.

I reckon Marquez knocks him out & goes down as one of the greats. He just has the sharper tools. Add Vazquez to scalps like Mark Johnson (twice) & Tim Austin and that will be one awesome career.

However, both men are p4p ranked, and both are hardened pros. These are not men who picked an easy route. Vazquez was considered the lesser of the 122 champs - until he stopped Larios. Marquez has been KOd 3 times, but went on to be a superb champion.

There will be so much pride in this fight, add to that it's an all Mexico battle. Should be a sizzler.

Marquez is the goods, watched a load of his fights on DVD recently, realised why everyone had been raving about him, he's the like his brother, but with more aggression and power, but still lots of boxing ability.

Did you see his 1st fight with Mark Johnson and his KO win over Tim Austin? Great fights AND he beat elite opponents. That's what I like to see.

I'm rooting for Marquez. He'd better get Vazquez out of there ASAP because Vazquez' cumulative pressure is just brutal. He can turn your face purple in a matter of rounds, Castillo-style.

Yes I did, very impressive performances, he obviously thrives on the big occasion. I'm tipping Marquez, he looks like one of the most compelte fighters I've seen in a long time, and whilst he is aggressive, he is also methodical and patient when needs be. The mark of a truly special fighter that. I see the same thing in Cotto as well, though his repetoire is not as impressive as Marquez'.

I'll go with Vasquez to beat him to the draw and flatten Marquez.

Interesting pick. I think Vasquez is a lot more open than Marquez, who has a good technical defence when needed. I think Marquez will start slow and nullify the more overltly aggressive Vasquez, and start bashing him up through the middle rounds.

Though Vazquez showed great perseverance against Gonzalez, I don't think he will be strong enough to fight toe to toe against Marquez for 12 rounds and I can't see him even attempting to outbox Rafael but he can definetly hurt him. Like James said, first few rounds could see Marquez outboxing Vazquez until it explodes and becomes a total brawl. Marquez by KO 9 in barnburner!

I reckon Marquez will be 1st out of the blocks, beat Vazquez to the punch and hurt his man early. Vazquez will get in his rhythm mid rounds to batter Marquez, and IMO Marquez comes back to end matters late.

I'm going for Marquez as well. I see Vasquez starting off faster, but Marquez will use his superior boxing skills and power to slowly take over the fight. Marquez by late KO in a cracker.

I can well understand Marquez being fav here - he's looked a million dollars lately - but he's been KO'd a couple of times before, and he's going in against the hardest hitter he's faced for some time...

Those stoppages were early in his career, doesn't neccessarily mean much. Pacman had a couple early too, but hasn't exactly looked wobbly round the whiskers lately.

It's hard to go against Marquez here. All you can see is those raking punches clattering against the chin of Vasquez.

I think Marquez will beat this guy up.

his debut against rabanales u mean? rabanales had previosuly held a bantam world belt, and went and challenged for it again after fighting marquez, he was 39-14-2 when he fought marquez, not like over here where you debut against tony booth or Peter buckley

No I wouldn't count that, probably one of the hardest debuts of all time!

The further two losses where what I was looking at, and unlike PacMan who was obviously weight drained down at fly, Marquez has always been same weight.

Marquez supposedly weighs 140lbs come fight night though. If true a move to 122 and possibly 126 would do him good. Some of the greatest fighters had losses close to their dominant performances - just look how many losses Henry Armstrong had - even within the year of his first world title win if I'm not wrong

i think only one of THOSE is a bad loss tbh, seeing as Genaro Garcia lost to Hasegawa in november for a strap. he was 22-3-0 when he fought marquez so was in a similar career stage.

marquez's loss to mateos is worrying, but i think hes atoned for it. I think this is a close fight but Marquez to win for me

I like Marquez here, but give Vasquez a punchers chance - Marquez has been hurt (KO'd?) in his career- moving up and facing a big puncher like Vasquez.

Think he is the more skilled and can't half whack himself. He might even be better at 122.

Criminally underated is Rafael, I have had him in my P4P top ten for years.

It seems to me to be a total waste of time if they don't. Why follow a fighter's career for a couple of years only to fail to show their biggest fight? I mean, for God's sake, they've even got McCullough giving his in-depth take on what they describe as a potential fight of the year.

If Sky aren't showing it at all, does anyone know of anywhere on the net that is?

Its not being showed here either Darchinian is on the undercard and Foxtel are showing UFC instead.

even pacman didnt lose his pro debut against a former world champ who was only 2 years removed from his world title and still close to top of his game!!

rafael went 8 rounds in his career opener before being stopped by 39-14 victor rabanales!!
