Great fight this, on the undercard of the Cotto fight in Puerto Rico - televised by HBO - yet no listing on Sky.

I thought those bums over at Sky had an HBO deal, which was their excuse for showing some of those D level HBO fights in recent months?

And yet they give this one a miss? And the Vasquez fight? Incredible.

This fight is a can't miss bombs away between two of the hottest middleweight prospects around. The type of cross roads fight we NEVER see in the UK for instance. ( see Enzo v Haye )

Plus a Cotto showcase as main event.

I see German TV are showing the bill at 9AM Sunday - channel MDR, anyone know which satellite this bounces off? Hotbird, Astra??

Miranda-Green is intriguing.
Marquez-Vazquez has the potential to be a great battle and it's of historical importance.
Vic Darchinyan is a little monster, and he shold eat up Burgos.

This fight looks great but you have to worry about Green against as big a puncher as Miranda after watching this footage of him almost getting KO'd by journeyman Donnie McCrary. Amazing how the referee did not stop it while Green was still on his feet - all flush shots. I don't think anybody could have complained if it was stopped. But he must have cleared his head quickly if he went on to win by 6th round TKO.

I think those kind of hiccups can help a fighter. Miranda's had a few as well (those nowhere near a sserious), shaken by Sherwin Davis & Eastman, not to mention losing his temper & throwing away the win vs Abraham.

These 2 could well be ready for each other which could produce something special.

Wow! Just checked EM's record it says he has a 76 1/2" reach. For a 6' guy that's massive. I knew he had a puncher's build with the wide back and long arms but Jesus.

it's absolutely amazing that Green could come back from a shell hacking like that.

I'd say 99 out of a 100 would have been out for the count after those punches landed, let alone come back to win.
That what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Miranda has to be favorite, but Green is a very LIVE underdog.

I had a mate who lost both his arms in a train crash, he's definetly not as strong as he was before, so I don't know he'd agree with your statement there.

I made a comment on the Donnie McCready fight as well on a similar topic, that moment leads me to believe Green will struggle once Miranda lands big. McCready had him out on his feet, great heart shown by Green though.

Yeh, how can you not like Miranda after seeing the McCrary clip?
Always nice to see 2 genuine future prospects step up and fight eachother. Both seem quite confident and expect KO's.
I just hope this fight doesn't clash with Marquez/Vazquez as nothing beats watching them live.

While Miranda did show a good chin against Abraham, don't forget - Eastman hurt him, and Green can punch as well.

Green, for the most part, has been KOing journeymen. That might (and only might) give a false impression of just how hard he hits. Miranda's stoppage of Eastman by contrast was damn impressive. Miranda holds all the cards, imo.

I don't know why, but I like Green to outbox him - think he has more variety. Although, Miranda can KO practically anyone.

Edison "Pantera" Miranda and Allan "Sweetness" Green square off in a fascinating clash of middleweight punchers at the historic Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
It's a tough-looking assignment for unbeaten Green, a hot prospect in the States and likened to Roy Jones for speed and power. In 2005 he produced one of the year's best knockouts when he crushed New Yorker Jaidon Codrington in 18 seconds in his native Oklohoma. But he had to survive a knockdown two fights later against unheralded Donnie McCrary, before coming back to win. He's since hammered former The Contender star Anthony Bonsante in one and rugged Dominican Jerson Ravelo in eight (Ravelo appears in The Contender Britain vs USA international later this month in Newcastle). At 23-0 (16), he's won five of his last six by stoppage.
Chiselled Green turned pro five years ago, after compiling amateur stats of 55-6 (40), and his first promoter was Sugar Ray Leonard (The Contender took Leonard away but it was Sugar who gave Green his nickname). The fighter from Tulsa proved an instant hit: his first three opponents didn't last a round. Slick California-based Londoner Ola Afolabi was outscored in fight No. 4 - a man who went on to lick former WBA cruiserweight champ Orlin Norris. Green was 11-0 when he pasted Johnny Nelson victim Willard Lewis of Canada over eight rounds. He took two to flatten Canada's unbeaten Conal MacPhee a fight later. Battle-hardened Etienne Whitaker also went out in two.
But that spectacular 18-second blowout of poor Codrington really pushed him to the forefront, given Codrington went in unbeaten in nine - all by knockout. The 27-year-old Green followed up with a another first-round victory over Arizona's Mike Jackson in January but was then floored and nearly stopped by journeyman McCrary in the third of their April 2006 dust-up. Green froze from one on the chin, went down by the ropes, beat the count (on wobbly legs) and somehow survived the remainder of the round. He was back to his punishing best by the fourth and needed till the sixth to finish McCrary with a left hook.
But the knockdown is a worry.
Miranda is an astonishing puncher who needed less than a round to dispose of Willie Gibbs last time out in December - a prospect like Green (going in). The Colombian has scored 17 first-round knockouts. He's won 20 of his 28 fights inside two rounds. He proved he was more than a one-hit wonder against our own Howard Eastman in Florida last year, shrugging off the Londoner's best punches, slowing him with body shots and nailing him with a brutal four-punch combination in the seventh: straight right, left hook and two huge uppercuts, before referee Brian Garry dived in.
It marked the first time Eastman had been stopped in a 12-year career.
So 26-year-old Miranda, based in Florida, has fought in much better company than Green. The only man to beat him went through agonies to do so in defence of a major world title in Germany last September. I won't insult you with the details.
Ultimately, his power and experience gives him the edge over untested Green. But in this one, anything could happen.

A highly anticipated bout fought at a catchweight of 162lbs between unbeaten Edison Miranda and Allan Green wasn't the slugfest people expected, but was an entertaining bout all the same. Miranda outworked Green over the first seven rounds, but Green knocked down Miranda with a left hook in round eight. Miranda came back to stagger Green in the ninth and badly rocked him in the tenth before finally putting him on the deck twice in a spectacular finish. In the end, Miranda prevailed by scores of 97-90, 96-91, 96-91.

Hopefully this'll appear on youtube next week. Still got to like Green though - it's takes some nerve to take on maybe the most feared middleweight puncher around, with no title on the line either.
He could've just sat tight and a title shot would have been his, without taking a high risk fight like this.
And Miranda shows he most definitely deserves another crack at the title.

Give rounds 1-6 a miss by all accounts, this link picks it up in round 7, but it kicks off in round 8 with Green knocking down Miranda. Second link is round 9-10.

Green got the hype after knocking out Codrington and then thrown in deep against Miranda at a weight he wasn't comfortable at.

He boxed 'scared' – as if he didn't feel he could stand with Miranda, who just got sloppy in the eighth. After that he just plain beat Green up for the rest of the fight.

Back to the drawing board for Green and Miranda deserves another title shot immediately. A tough, awkward bugger with good ring savvy.
